Anyway, I can fix the mountain range by lowering the surrounding mountains but that will require significant changes to the Map_T.tga file.  I don't mind doing it but it will have to wait for Kirby to finish all of his texture changes first.

OK !!! THX Good news !!!

Lagarto/Kirby/anyone else interested,
Tomcat_Zombie has kindly given me the go ahead for the "1942" version of this map!  I think I will start a new thread here in the WIP area for the "1942" version so as not to confuse the two maps.  I will, however, wait for Kirby to complete his texture (Map_T.tga) changes to this map and along with some changes I have promised to make first.  Then, this map will then become the baseline for the 1942 version.  Hopefully, the new version will just require some airstrip additions & removals which should not take me too long...

Definitely ALT the Iron Range complex would be all in Red then DELETE all ,Save then add in extra wood easy peasy.
I am sure Iron Range was from around 43 onwards.
I prefer historical maps to a period which I why I used genuine black and white photos of the airfields in Cape York and on Horn Island.

Thanks Kirby.  I was going to ask if you were alright with that before I did it.  I just removed them but I left the name (Iron Range) there for now.  Do you agree, or should I remove it from the texts file as well?

I am a firm believer of DWTFYWWI (In announcements).
I'd just leave the main Iron Range large text and take out the three strips texts too.
Better to have period maps for sure like my other map Northern Borneo Pre War to 42 and 43 to 45.
I am happy that your taking on the 42 version.  :D

Cheers

That's what I did!  Thanks for the encouragement Kirby.  Between you and Tomcat_Zombie, you guy's have finally inspired me to learn how to do something that I have wanted to do since the beginning days of IL-2.  Thank you both!  I'm still learning but I am much further along in this last month or so than I ever thought I would be!

As to the 1942 version - the Wau airfield, which at that time was held by a small garrison of Aussies, should definitely be there. However, I doubt that AI can use it without crashing into the surrounding mountains. Still, it's a good emergency airstrip for missions from Port Moresby against Lae and Salamaua.

Yes, you can take off and land there manually but the AI, that's a different story.

Am super detailing the newly painted texture areas in Cape York.
While I use the  good old f key for mass painting in fmb+ sometimes I miss the odd tile or kind of a double up tile that shouldn't be there.
Again super detailing all newly painted areas just to be spot on.  ;D
I've also added a new shallows texture from Mark  :D
And a new sky from the recent part 4 sky pack.  :D
