Final Update 15/08/2015

This is a final update from me (SAS~Farang65) I have pretty much accomplished what I wanted to do and that was
to get Australia (the Cape York Peninsula area and Torres Strait) into the war.

Far North Queensland, Cape York Peninsula, Torres Strait and PNG was officially called The North East Area of Operations.

This community project had to be done as it was so close to home even though Cairns was not on the map.  :D

My other projects in the North West Area of Operations are collecting dust and I must return to those projects (Northern Territory/ Western Australia/Ambon/ Timor)  ;D

Another week or so and I will turn 50 so will have a weeks break from it all then and get back to the NWAO  ;D

https://www.mediafire.com/download/5jxc3b8cfr1anfi/Fw_PNG_Final_Update_15082015.7z

Over write the map file as usual.
Add the new forest in to _Tex/forest/summer.

I'm sure Dennis will have some further updates with his plans for PNG and all.  ;D

For Dennis,

Yes I corrected the issues at the field you mentioned (Kila Field)  ;D

Awesome job Kirby as always!  It has been a real pleasure working with you on this map.  I have learned soooo much about map making/editing from you and I really appreciate it!  Thank you for your patience.

All,
I will probably make one more update to this map and then I will begin a PNG/AUS 1942 version of this map as previously requested!

Undoubtedly a fundamental map to realistically model all campaigns fought between Rabaul and New Guinea and even inside this latter, since stock map does not include main Japanese airfields like Lae and Salamaua.

Unfortunately, I've the impression it is made and developed for its own makers only; according to a popular saying of my country: "They sing and play on their own" :)

May I ask if would be possible (if intended) build a final release, suitable for all game versions, complete with instruction and easy to install?

Thanks for all your work,

SAS~Monty updates this map quite regularly in CUP  ;D

He has added the last update before The Great Barrier Reef work.

I am sure he'll add more  :D

Why would you believe it was intended only for us?????  If that were true, we wouldn't post download links or tell you how to install it in every update that we post.  This map is already suitable for all game versions and it is as easy to install as any other map on this site.  We provide the files for the map and all you have to do is drop them in the #UP#, #DBW, etc. folders where the other maps exist in your chosen version.  And, in the case of CUP, SAS~Monty27 does that through his updates.  If you are not sure how to do it in your version, all you have to do is ask  ;D

And, yes, it would be possible to build a final release when we are actually finished.  That's why it's still in the Work In Process area.  SAS~farang65 has completed his last update but I will have at least one more before it's finished.  It takes a lot of time to finish a map that covers as much area as this map covers.  This map is already about 1 1/2 years old.  When the map is "finished" it will be posted as completed but why make people wait when it can be used right now?

Why would you believe it was intended only for us?????

Sorry, often others see things differently from the way we see it. No offence, but I see most messages on this thread are from you and SAS~farang65 that thanks each other for the work done. Personally, I firstly downloaded what marked "Final Update", believing it was the whole thing - just to discover it was indeed only an update (btw, why to call it "Final" if SAS~farang65 himself, on same post where he release it, writes "I'm sure Dennis will have some further updates with his plans for PNG and all."?). So I realized (but I'm still unsure) that I should start from first post by Tomcat_Zombie and then peruse all messages hoping to detect all next updates to add. So I did, but couldn't find any installation instruction inside first download (all in all, it was predictable, being an unfinished work ...), as a consequence, I stopped.

Please consider that already I've difficulties on my own to deal with installation of new maps, starting with the nightmare of all.ini format, with all strings attached each other, then some missing object or texture...

I play exclusively 4.09m + UP 2.01.

Hope you'll post an idiot-proof version when finished.

Thanks,
GB

Greybeard,
Tomcat Zombie at times comes in occasionally and updates as much as he can when Dennis and I have completed some work
Yes use the current update from TZ at the first post then you have to work through the update dates from the Final update from me.

From my final update there should be maybe 3 previous updates to install.

We thank each other for our work done  :D because you probably do realize that Dennis and I were the ones who really wanted to do EXTRA work on this map.

I stopped my projects and put in 4 months here.  :D

If you use CUP Simon updates the map regularly.  :D

Cheers Kirby

greybeard and any others that desire an up to date all in one download.  I have put together a complete package containing the last update (15/08/2015) and sent the link to Tomcat_Zombie asking he update the initial post.  Since he created it, I do not have the permission to edit it.  In the meantime you can also get it here:

https://www.mediafire.com/download/d7vphfrp5yg4rrf/PNG_AUS_Full_Update_15_08_2015.7z

Instructions:

To use JSGME to add the map:

1)  Decompress the download and copy the "AUS_PNG Full Update 15_08_2015" folder to your jsgmemods folder.
2)  Create a new folder depending on your version of IL-2 (i.e. #UP#, #DBW, etc.) inside the "AUS_PNG Full Update 15_08_2015" folder and then move the "MAPMODS" folder and it's contents inside that new folder.
For v4.09 the path would now be "...jsgmemods\AUS_PNG Full Update 15_08_2015\#UP#\MAPMODS\MAPS\etc...
3)  Then add the line contained in the file, "Add this to your all.ini file" (located inside "MAPS" folder) to the top of a copy of your current "all.ini" file and save it to the "MAPS" folder.  Your current "all.ini" file is located in the "#UP#\STD\com\Maddox\il2\objects" folder.
4)  Activate the map in JSGME.

To direct install:
1)  Decompress the download and copy the "MAPMODS" folder and it's contents directly to your #UP# (or #DBW, etc.) folder.  If it already exists, merge the two folders.
2)  Then add the line contained in the file, "Add this to your all.ini file" (inside "MAPS" folder) to the top of a copy of your current "all.ini" file and save it to the "MAPS" folder.  Your current "all.ini" file is in the "#UP#\STD\com\Maddox\il2\objects" folder.

As always, if you have any questions, just ask...

Thanks Dennis  :D

That is the great thing about time zones when one is asleep there other is doing something towards the project.

I really don't see how the dates could be such a problem. They are in consecutive order throughout the thread.  ;D

Yes it is Tomcat Zombie's thread so we don't mess with the first post at all.

If the dates are a problem you should try living in Thailand. I married my wife in 2548 ( 2005) it is now 2557 (2015) to Thai's.

Work that one out  ;D ( They have their own date and year system).

Any way I'll be looking forward to Dennis' last update  ;D

Thanks for the comprehensive link, Dennis!
 :)

Just a short note ;) : In most of my installs, the all.ini resides in:
Name of Mods folder aka #SAS/#UP#/Mods/MapMods/Maps.

Surely I miss something here due to bein' in an early morning zone. ;)
Best Regards

Dennis

Thank you very much! I installed by JSGME and it works! It's amazing! :o

Only a shortcoming: I can't save missions. :(
