Default plane skins
« on: April 12, 2015, 03:37:55 PM »

Can the "default" skins be saved from the game as a standalone skin?  I can't find them in the PaintSchemes/Skins folder and would like to modify a couple...

TIA

Hi,

You won't find default skins in the normal Paintschemes folder, they live in the 3do folder for the plane concerned, e.g. ...[whatever plane]/3do/summer (or winter, desert etc).

They are also saved temporarily in Paintschemes/cache after you fly them in-game.

I don't know if you can retreive them in that format as a 'normal' paintscheme, but that's where they live.  :)

Thanks, but I can't find any folder i.e. "P-38G/3do/summer"  What version of the game are you referring to?  I am in CUP version currently.  There were some files in the PaintSchemes/cache folder after flying but only the pilot skin was in a viewable picture format.

When you have found the defSkin(s) you are looking for
you have to make them a bmp file..  :P

here is a thread where the "how to do this" is described:   :)
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,33273.msg358144.html#msg358144

btw, wich P-38G? In CUP there are three of them.

Anyway, somthing to work with and try,
here they are, G5,G10,G15 defSkins (some may be double):
https://www.mediafire.com/download/4txtxg8lmxzb533/P-38G_defSkins.7z

the defSkins in xxxxxx(USA) or yyyyyyyy(Multi1)
are wheter with US Roundel or NM. Check it out.  ;)

Thank you SAS~Gerax!  I was looking for the P-38G-15.  I couldn't get any downloaded skins to load, just the default.  Then I looked in the Air.ini and saw that it is actually the "P-38G-15-LO".  I changed the folder name and now the d/l'd skins work.  I didn't realize all the P-38G's were the "-LO" versions.

Oh well, should have checked there first, I guess.  But thanks for the default's anyway, I can still use them...
