HS-129 Historical Campaign(s) - Help
« on: April 14, 2015, 01:53:14 PM »

I am working on a historical campaign for 4./SchG 1 (HS-129) in the Eastern Front.  I have been researching for several months and have yet to locate a good source for information.  I have pieced together "events" of the German Offensive of 1942 (Case Blue - later changed to Operation Braunschweig).  The 4./SchG 1 was part of the retaking of the City of Kerch in May of 1942.  In mid-May they moved to Kharkov area to assist the 6th Army there.
I have looked at many sites and researched at my local library as well as the Dayton, Ohio Air Force Museum and have been able to roughly follow their service but I have no specific data on airfields stationed at, mission dates, or types of missions.
I am looking for assistance with locating as much information as possible.

Thanks in advance for your time,

http://www.ww2.dk/air/attack/schg1.htm

But this is only their airfield location. For any further information you can have a look at the books of Christer Bergsrom and pray that you find some words about a particular event involving them.

Cheers

Yes , Bergstrom's Series "Black Cross Red Star : Air War Over the Eastern Front" is probably the most comprehensive (German side) record of the war in Russia.
It is also priced accordingly!

I am grateful for the information.  I vastly under estimated the knowledge of historical campaign designers (when done correctly) and the work involved.  I've made many campaigns for personal use (fictional).  I stumbled accross the HS-129 and was interested in it's service history which quickly sucked me into the Eastern Front and the Africa Campaign.  I have begun the task of searching for the airfields 4.(PZ)/SchG 1 served at using the maps of IL2 4.12.2.  Of course not all airfields are represented in IL2 so getting an airfield as close as possible to the original location while being on the right map for the missions has been challenging. As frustrating as it has been I have enjoyed it enough to consider taking it up as a hobby.  Creating an Historical Campaign (or mission for that matter) forces you to look into areas you otherwise would not have considered relevent.

Thank you gentlemen for the information provided.  I am grateful for your time.
