Crossed Runways - Help!
« on: May 01, 2015, 10:36:50 AM »

I have an airfield that has two runways that cross each other.  I have placed a runway ground point (red arrow) at the end of each runway.  The problem I am having is that when I assign a landing waypoint in a mission, I don't always get the selected runway and direction that I want.  The landing WP snaps to one of the other runway ground points on the second runway.  I have searched to see if I could find a solution but cannot find anything.

I know I can remove one of the runway ground points from runway #2 and then runway #1 becomes useable the usual way but it stops me from using runway #2 for AI landings.  :(

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

I'm new to map building but I'm trying  ;)

I have often wondered about that, and never did find a solution to it, the game just seems to see the aircraft type selected and goes for the runway that suits it best, regardless of what you actually tell it to do.

Is there a solution, anyone ?

The only thing that worked recently was to put the waypoint intended to be takeoff or landing numerous times towards the opposite end (wrt the 2nd runway) -the end farest away to the non intended takeoff or landing point and set it to normflight. Then switch to takeoff, landing, whatever, until it finally snaps in.
Correctly.

That sounds stupid, but often enough works, playing with the point where the waypoint is before setting it back to takeoff/landing is the thing that tricks the game engine into finally -even if after 10th attempt or more-to bring the desired result.

That worked on my recent humble mod and also worked once at the Reno mod, a tricky part as well for the assigned to this map Quicks, missions.

Thanks for the idea.  I tried it and after a few tries, I thought it worked since it snapped to the correct runway to land on but when I played the mission, they landed on the wrong runway as always  :(
