Arado E.555-1
« on: May 02, 2015, 12:56:54 PM »

The aircraft I am requesting I have not seen in the last 10 pages of the requests section. The Arado E.555 was planned to be an "Amerika" Bomber. Dimensions, performance, etc are below at your disposal.

Reasoning- Of the experimental German aircraft, there is no strategic bomber. The closest to the Arado is the Gotha Go 229 which carries no armaments except for its wing cannons. This would be a great aircraft to use for any sort of fictional invasion or to say that "the Wunderwaffe's weapons payed off and now the Nazis are on the offensive again!". The Arado E.555 is something new for the community and it appears that some have seen it but haven't thought about it yet. I also believe that since there were only supposed to be 3 crew members, interior work would be a lighter load. Many thanks to the people that do this stuff; not once did I think it was a cakewalk.

I dont think its possible.
First we need a map to fly over Washington DC,
Only then can we fly there with a new "Amerika bomber".
Otherwise it does not make sence to fly this bomber wing. Unless...unless...  Goering changes his mind and
the Luftwaffe Bombs Moscow.

You think that such a map should exist first? I don't disagree but one could come with a scenario where the E.555 would be used over Europe (besides the Russian front as you said earlier).

  • Landing just means stop flying, right?

I'm with 37 on this one. If you need the map first, then why do we have the B-29 silverplate? I personally would love to fly this thing out. Gets my vote

This is a cool plane to use in many possible imaginary scenarios, and it would be fun to play with it in the game. I question, however, the whole fascination with late-war German aeronautical fever dreams, and I'd like to see more interest in more American, British, and Japanese late-war, or immediate post-war projects that got their start during world war two- The Douglas XB-42, the Vought XF5U,The Northrop XP-79B, The McDonnell XFD-1  The Martin-Baker MB-5, and so on.
