Dreamk,

Sputnik, Monty and myself tried to get C&C working correctly in 4.12, but couldn't because of the vis.check file.

I'll pm you later with our findings as I'm in work at the moment, but even without C&C 4.12 doesn't handle night missions well as it only takes into consideration what the AI can see. It makes no allowance for radar, ground control, etc.

Speak later

Regards

hi, somebody please help me figure out what the deal is with this mod, in my modact 530 game.
i added the folders and see that some planes now have mines as loadout, but there's a problem trying to get any of the planes working - pretty much all of them are giving me a 60% ctd, so i must be missing some files....
first it crashed with the He-111-6B, which i seem to have no files of - i rem'd that out, and then it crashed with the next plane, the Swordfish II, for which i had installed the fully working 412 Swordfish linked earlier in the thread.
if i look in the accompanying !_AerialMinesCods folder, there is a 3do folder with sub-folders for the TB-3, but nothing for any of the other planes mentioned in the readme.
seems to me i'm missing something, but what.....?

edit: i refer specifically to this part of the install instructions:

Quote
I included a folder with specially modded planes to present the various mines of each country (you'll need to include the attached additions to the air ini in order to fly them)
UK mines - Swordfish MkIIB
Soviet mines DB-3T-B
German Mines He-111H-6B
Japanese mines B5N2M
Italian mines Re2002S
US mines A-20CS
Air.ini additions for these planes:

SwordfishMk.IIB    air.SW2_B 1                     NOINFO   gb01 SUMMER
DB-3T-B             air.IL_4_DB3T_B 1                       NOINFO  r01   SUMMER
He-111H-6B         air.HE_111H6B 2                                g01   WINTER
B5N2M              air.B5N2M 2                                    ja01  DESERT
RE-2002S           air.RE_2002S 2                                 i01   SUMMER
A-20CS             air.A_20CS 1                                   usa01 SUMMER

now, as all these planes are causing me a 60% ctd (as i expected, as there is no info/files for these planes anywhere other than this instruction....), i think it's safe to assume that i maybe don't have this folder that's being referred to.... ?
what is the name of this folder? where should it be? where do i find it...? lol - so many questions, so little time ... :D

another edit: okay, i see that in the first post, that section that i just quoted from the readme is actually lined through - what's the story? there's no explanation for it - maybe better to just delete that text, or not?

well those aircraft were just for testing and later DreamK deleted them, and his new version include only the mines which appears in the game among some specified aircrafts's loadouts, like the stock TB3M and on one of the A-20 and on He-111 H6 and on some other aircrafts.

okay, i see, thanks.
hmm....might be nice if something to that effect was mentioned in the first post - as it stands it's a bit confusing, and i'm no newbie, lol
anyhoo, let me get on with trying to sink some ships with these mines... :D

You forgot Beaufighter - that plane also drop mine "A"

Quote
It was designed as a bomber but was used in a number of roles in the early stages of WW2, including as a night fighter.  The company then exploited its new found expertise in a variety of military projects, one of which was the Beaufighter; a general reconnaissance bomber/torpedo bomber and mine laying aircraft

would be great to have the Beau equipped with mines.. :D
@ DreamK, as i said, i did eventuallly figure it out, but i still feel it would be much less confusing if that part that is struck out were removed.
to make matters worse, instead of reading the post itself, i copy/pasted the entire first post text into a note that i put inside the Mines folder.
and when i read this 'readme' to follow the instructions, the part that is struck through was not struck through anymore (as you can't just copy/paste a struck-through word)
so i ended up with a 'copy' of your setup instructions, that was faulty.
it's a silly thing, maybe, but one that could have been avoided if the redundant text was simply removed instead of being struck through.
anyway, i can confirm the mod working fine, thanks :D

I understand. I wiped the strikethrough lines in the first post. Hope it will be clearer now. The Beaufighters are ready but not yet uploaded as they will be part of another (big) surprise  :)

By the way, building up-to-date campaigns for early nightfighting, I've read that Hampden, Beaufort and Whitley we used for mine-laying (code-named "gardening"  :D ) in the North Sea, while Wellingtons were used to detonate naval mines. So, I'm very curious about this famous 'big surprise' coming !

So, I'm giving this a try. Seems to be working, but I have two issues:

1) I can't find any planes carrying UK-type mines in the latest version.

2) I have a lot of weird bugs (VP Modpack in 4.12) in the FMB when I set up a mission with a mine-equipped aircraft. I can't view all of my waypoints, I can't view the aircraft in my flight, etc.
