Menu music in the IL-2. What settings should be?~SOLVED
« on: March 31, 2010, 02:19:18 AM »

Hello. I have a few questions about the parameters of menu music in the IL-2.
What parameters should have a file .wav? I tried to transcode to the format .wav with a frequency of 24000 Hz. But my music does not play fully, but only a small fragment, and then starts over again. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Thank you Malone! I'll see what happens.

I can't do it. As before, the music is played not completely.
I code it through Nero 9 with the following settings: File Format: .wav,
Frequency: 44100 Hz, bits: 16, Channels: Stereo. What i need to do? Thanks in advance.

hi ivan
i haven't used Nero for sound conversions, so i'm not sure what format it works in.
have a look at this sound thread, maybe using one of the available sound apps there will help you:

Strange... My readme saying: 4. Sound files must be recorded with sampling rate 11025 Hz, mono, 16-bit format. For use in a game they must be converted to the type of file Windows RIFF wave (*. wav). Data must be compressed to the MPEG-1 Layer 3 @ 20 kbps 11025 Hz Mono. This can be done with the help of special audio editors, such as Sonic Foundry, SoundForge, Sonic Foundry Batch Converter, CoolEdit, etc. How to use it - you decide for yourself. Above all, the results coincide with the demands made on the simulator.
P.S. I'm using russian version of Il-2 4.09m.

hmm...that is strange, there shouldn't be any diff between the russian and english version, as far as sound is concerned.
the readme i quoted was from the PF readme, maybe that is why the difference.
there is a lot of info available for sound settings, try looking on the Ubi PF forums?
otherwise, i'm sure someone with better specific knowledge will be along soon to help.
are you converting from mp3, or some other source?

Yeah, i converting from mp3. I'm tired of doing it. Nothing works. I tried to encode music in the 11025 hertz. And I got the music as if playing a very, very slowly, stretched. Argh! I can't take it anymore.
Besides my readme is saying: User Manual
Version 4.04m-4.07m
IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles - Aces High - Pearl Harbor - Pe-2 - Attack of Manchuria - 46
IL-2 Sturmovik Platinum Collection

At the time of release of this DVD-version of the most complete is the text Manuals Pearl Harbor, which is also used in this version.(This is a translate from russian)

Finally I did it! With wavosaur I convert music as stated in the readme(11025 Hz, 16 bits, mono). And it works. Thanks for your help Mr Malone!

This is what I have suffered for so long: https://www.mediafire.com/?wtzymizoyuy
It's the anthem of the Soviet Union to replace the music in the menu for the Soviet Union. If someone can convert it into a format with higher hertz I'll be very happy.
