So i was feeling creative, and after some mild research, I realised that the Nieuport 23 we have in DBW-1916 is armed in the French manner with a single machine gun firing through the propeller arc. I decided that if i was going to fly the Nieuport 23 as an RFC aircraft, which i was... then it might as well be armed in the appropriate RFC fashion.
I managed to rearm the Nieuport 23 after the RFC practice of placing a single gun over-wing to fire outside of the propeller arc. I also caused it to load the N-17A cockpit in place of the N-23 one so that there is no "non-existent" machine gun in my field of view. This was accomplished by creating a tiny folder structure in the MODS folder to read before the Main "AIRCRAFT_Nieuport_...." folder. It borrows various mesh files and modified hier.HIMs from other Nieuport variants to create the look i wanted. Nothing fancy and no credit to me.
I was rather pleased with my results, but then i got to thinking. What if i take the vert. stabilizer and rudder from the Nieuport 28, place it on the Nieuport 23, and create myself a rather spiffy looking nieuport 27????!
But try as i might, i could not get the tail to cooperate! :\'( So i quite fighting with the Hier.HIM and i now come to you for assistance.
My humble request is to ask if there are any 3D gurus out there who might have a few minutes and a mild interest in this idea, and whether any of those might like to try to put together a new stabilizer and rudder for my Nieuport 27?
No need for any new slot or such. Its just a small personal request and, as such, mere 3D work is more than sufficient to amuse me. If this gets done i promise to post a picture or two in the screenshots with credit!
