Hurricane Mk.IIb Trop VVS
« on: June 04, 2015, 11:49:49 PM »

A reasonable Request to enable us VVS Trop variants with Vokes Aero Vee Filter.

New slot Filter type would enable us historical mixed Units, not semi-all Filter,
as we now only can chose with or without Filter with current Filter/Desert management.

Soviet Hawker Hurricanes:
Code: [Select]
Nearly 3,000 Hawker Hurricanes supplied to Soviet Union 1941-1944 from British and Canadian production,
including 210 Mk IIA (some Mk I conversions), 1,557 Mk IIB, 1,009 Mk IIC, 60 Mk IID and about 100 Mk IV.
In Russia, some Hawker Hurricanes adapted to have 0.50 in (12.7 mm) machine guns of US origin, and a few
modified to two-seaters for training. Within five weeks of 1941 to the Soviet pilots the pilots of Royal air
forces (RAF), arrived in USSR. The 151th wing were specially formed at the request of government USSR for
the help at a defense of Murmansk. For five weeks the Soviet pilots successfully have mastered "Hurricanes",
and the 151th wing have returned home. During fights the British pilots have brought down not less than 16 planes
of the opponent, having lost only one (sergeant - pilot Djon Smith). Further on "Hurricanes" the Soviet pilots battled
on Northern fleet, Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Safonov protected sea escorts in area of the Kola peninsula - Murmansk.

Here a few pictures of the Requested types:

Only for Vokes Aero Vee Reference

Russian Filter Modification for Mk.IIB Mod

MK.IIB modified with Russian Filter, different guns + 44.gal droptanks

These Filters were handcrafted and not mass production, as this picture shows,
here the intermediate Filter housing is missing, they used just the first segment.
Propably in less dusty season or it was a prototype crafted Filter early version.

Do you mean the filter should be dependant on the skin used, like some skis and wheel spats on other aircraft?

The idea is to get a seperate Tropical Filter slot,  to show up on
Winter, Summer, autumn, Spring Maps, for all Nations.
This slot wouldn't care about Mappresets, and always carry a Vokes Aero Vee.
I considered hence new slot, as the untropicalized Version we have now has it's place,
it would now only need the tropical variant to rest besides traditionally.
As usual no restrictions for the project.

4.09, 4.10, 4.12 our major mods residing, if possible

I jumped this idea from a Member requesting this for CUP. I thought if I can get myself Bf109 Trops that easy, why not
the old Hurrie Trops, but soon failed over these old files, as they conflict allover.
Hence I posted a regular Request for it.
KInd Regards

I recently made a Murmansk campaign for Hurricane IIB and, damn, didn't notice they should have had tropical filters! :-[

Anyway I agree, and would support this request also for another reason: Vokes filter had squared flanks, and not rounded ones like Japancat did!

Such a plane in a separate slot, would allow to have Hurricane with correct shape of Vokes tropical filter also on maps not set as "DESERT", like historically happened (of course I mean not only for VVS).

I understand, that one card can be a mixed type of plane?!It is in principle possible to do,but you need to determine what aircraft will need to duplicate. :)
P. S. If the filters somehow differ among themselves, we may ask Jero to make two types of filter - Eastern and African?!
Jero sympathetic person,and I think I will not refuse! :) ;)

Yes, I think it's possible to catch all needs, since it would show up on every Map for every country, no restriction.

As for the Vokes and VVS types, I tried to upgrade the Pictures, adding a bit more versatile to show the shape of the Aero Vee.
Added a section for pure Vokes Aero Vee reference and Mk.IIB Russian Modification as Reference too.

Hurricane Mk.IIB
Hurricane Mk.IIB Mod < with Russian Filter Modification + 2x Fuel Tanks
Hurricane Mk.IIC
Hurricane Mk.IID

At M.IIC and Mk.IID I've read they were almost all from MTO units (2nd hand) crated and then shipped to
Basra, where they got essambled and ferried by VVS Pilots via Teheran to Russia. Source Foreign Hurricanes, polish or czech publication.

I agree with an upgraded 3-D if possible. The MK.IIB, C and D could house the upgraded Vokes, were I would like
to see the Mk.IIB Mod. with the Russian Filter.

We are granted his support...

Great news! I agree also about the scheme ( Mk.IIB Mod. only with the Russian Filter, B/C/D with upgraded Vokes): would be excellent eventually seeing the ubiquitous fighter in the good shape.

Thanks for making and thrusting this request.

Cheers,
