C.U.P. Module-03 World at War PART-09 and PART-10
« on: June 15, 2015, 10:03:26 PM »

C.U.P. Module-03 World at War PART-09 and PART-10

These two come as a joint package.  You will need both to complete the upgrade.  Part-09 comprises essential SFS updates, QMBPRO addons and extra JSGME Options.  Part-10 contains a new #WAW.  Niether will work without the other.

#WAW PART 09 & 10 RESTORE POINT

***********************************

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS - RESTORE POINT AND NEW FEATURES

With all of the development and new addons in recent months we are beginning to drift apart with our individual WAW installs.  Of course CUP is designed to be tailored to preferences but we need a common point of reference at this stage.  Otherwise effective forum support is almost impossible.  These updates add a great deal and make many changes.

Please start with a fresh #WAW from this point: (its in Part-10)

***********************************
A FRESH NEW DEFINITIVE #WAW FOLDER

***********************************

JSGME DISABLE ALL OPTIONS PREFIXED #CUP AND #WAW

Pre-Install - Rem (add a Minus) rename your current #WAW to -#WAW

To install - UnRAR/UnZIP direct to main Il2 directory, overwrite when prompted:

Your old -#WAW may be safely deleted at your convenience.

Your new #WAW is the ultimate up to date reference to this point.

Several specialist packages and upgrades to follow in the near future reference this folder in this form.

JSGME ENABLE REQUIRED OPTIONS PREFIXED #CUP AND #WAW  (user preferences)

It is safe to add your options now and continue enjoying CUP World at War.

NEW JSGME OPTIONS
#WAW_DEF-SKIES
tbauchot sky textures are now applied to most CUP maps as standard.  In rare cases, often under texture compression, the user may wish to restore the default skies.  This option restores all 'default' skies for your World at War install.

#WAW_FLAMES Add Engine Flames
Enables Flame Effects.  These work great for almost every aircraft now.  If you are ever bothered by a wierd one, that is not yet fixed, in a particular mission or campaign, then you may switch the effect off.

#WAW_XC47-3-Tone Floats
#WAW_XC47-Blue Floats
#WAW_XC47-Metal Floats
Add different types of floats to the XC47.  With this mod the float colour is independent of the skin.

#WAW_F6C4-NoPANTS
#WAW_F6C4-FullPANTS
For the F6C4 Hawk - Switch between the usual Half-Wheel-Pants and Full-Wheel-Pants or remove them altogether.

#WAW_Ju52-MAXXED

OTHER AIRCRAFT
Normally I simply post an internal site link for easy reference.  In the following special cases I suggest you actually check the attached readme files and go thank the authors of these mods.

Westland Lysander by Beowolff, Deutschmark & Ton101
Il2 Freemodding - Original readme included - Lysander_readme.txt
This model is a popular campaign accessory that has been around most people's installs for ages.  Now that this mod is in CUP we can reduce the un-compressed clutter in your mod folder and improve the performance.

Junkers G-38 by Ectoflyer, CWatson & Gio
Il2 Freemodding - New readme included - G38_readme.txt
The G.38, by Gio, Ectoflyer and CWatson is also included, for its vintage value, adding variety to the transport aircraft flightline.  There was no comprehensive readme attached so I took the liberty of preparing one and also including it with this download.

SB2U Vindicator by CWatson & Gio
Il2 Freemodding - Original readme included - SB2U Vindicator readme.txt
One of my favourite early US Navy planes, already featured in TFM and New-TFM, its time to bring her back.  Please check the attached readme for all the details.

***********************************

(Thanks to Max for this wonderful picture)

KNOWN ISSUES
#WAW_Ju-87-Bomb Release Gear (a JSGME Option) continues to cause some conflicts and, while it is OK to experiment with, I would generally leave it off if it causes problems with your Stukas.

The LEO-451 requires a 412 Bomb-Sight fix.  In all other regards the aircraft is fine, AI are fine and it can even be campaigned by the player using various techniques over the target zone other than the Manual-Bomb-Sight - which may well be fixed someday.

The Supermarine Walrus requires a 412 Bomb-Sight fix.  As in the above case the aircraft is otherwise fine, especially with the brilliant new default skin by VPMedia.

***********************************

CARRIER PARKING

We all love packed carrier decks and with the advance of the war in the Pacific carrier design also began to feature steam powered catapults.  World at War features both types of carrier launch and crowded flight deck capacity.

Example I:  With the USS Yorktown of 1942 we have a capacity of 16 aircraft, squadron strength, for the launch.  Aircraft move into place individually, just ahead of the group, unfold wings, startup and roll the entire available deck length for takeoff.

Example II: The late war USS Essex features two steam powered catapults at the bow.  Here the full deck capacity is 15 aircraft.  Aircraft move to the bow catapult position, unfold wings, spool up and takeoff.  In each case there is a slight jump from the parked position to the takeoff position, this cannot be avoided.

SASEngineMOD:  The example of this mod built for CUP is modified to allow both types of carrier, full parking, chocks effect for land operation, and other effects, all in a stable environment.  Be aware that you modify this further at your risk.

***********************************

#WAW RESTORE POINT
Please install and use the fresh Part-10 #WAW folder, as recommended, for full CUP-WAW Functions.  I should also warn you to be ready for further releases shortly.  Several BIG ADDONS and updates are being assembled for CUP right now.  If you are properly prepared they will drop into this install smooth as silk...

good to see you again! was starting to get worried, or thought you'd take a break from everything... and then it turns out... you were too busy prepping all this up for us!

at this very moment i am copying a safety backup version of my active CUP folder over to my portable HDD... just in case.. since my CUP was heavily modded with custom fixes for problems and little additions..(some of which you now have incorporated with the update). i want to have a working fallback for worst case scenarios :D

but i am willing to start "re-freshed" with a new WAW folder and see what's going on there and probably.. end up applying my personal modifications and experiments on to this again. haha.

one random question that i just remembered, from seeing my old waw folder.. did you include the sailorsdisappear pack to fix the errors with most ships? i remember there was a mod not properly installed in CUP, that caused severe FPS drop when ships were being destroyed (due to missing objects/textures).

Hi deci

I will have to look into the ship issue, go and blow some stuff up!  I'm re-doing my Midway Campaign and some new Pacific stuff so if fixes are needed we will find them.  ;D

Thanks,
great!!!

but how to install it on old version PART-09?
Is it enough to overwrite previous version PART-09 with new PART-09 and PART-10?
Or should I remove previous PART-09 version?

Greetings,
ls

No worries Is - Follow the instructions:  -#WAW, use the new #WAW.  Everything else; overwrite when asked.  Two minutes work to install and foolproof as usual!  ;D
