trimming aid
« on: June 26, 2015, 10:14:48 PM »

Id like to have a way to tell how many degrees you've got the different surfaces trimmed. I found on a web page I was looking at one day, what % to trim things for a carrier take off in an f4u. It said
6deg nose right (rudder)
6deg right wing down (aileron)
nose 1deg up (elevator)

it would be great if it gets done.
Thanks

a long time ago i suggested this same idea to the "wishlist for team daidalos" thread on M4T forums, but i guess it got overlooked.

i support this idea, to have an (optional) trim readout display just like we already have for throttle / propellor pitch now would be a great addition.

As of now, there is a rudimentary way of knowing: Go to external view, zoom in and hit the trim keys. Every 5 or so times you press it, the control surfaces move a bit. Therefore, I think we can assume that every degree is equal to 5 clicks.

AFAIK there is a mod that shows you just this. I remember seeing it in a recent topic in "The Lounge", if my memory isn't playing tricks on me.

EDIT: Here it is

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,46628.msg518480.html#msg518480

I'll test it a bit later to see exactly how it works.

EDIT 2: It works. Download it and do what is wrttien in the .ini file.

The link in the thread leads to some Russian website or something, in which you must have an account to download files. Any other way to get the file?

The link works, you just have to press "Stahonout", then fill in the capcha and press the "download" button underneath it.

Anyway, here's an alternative link:  https://www.mediafire.com/download/a36vm7w1cn86ejk/HudCustomize.7z

thanks kilo, i didn't know about this mod before. i haven't tried it yet, but i am fearing it might interfere with visualmod (they both alter the HUD thing it seems...) i have to see and compare classfiles later.

Got it installed and works like advertised. Thanks again.
