WEP abbreviation update
« on: June 30, 2015, 11:39:56 PM »

Hi guys!

It changes mainly HUD messages about WEP with abbreviated ones. In addition, replaces "pitch" with "R.P.M." about propeller and set "Low"/"High" for supercharger gear position.

WEP abbreviation - a little mod for UP2.01.

FEATURES
It changes mainly HUD messages about WEP with abbreviated ones, as follows:

-MW50 ENABLED! ------------------> MW
-GM1 ENABLED! -------------------> GM1
-Afterburner ENABLED! -----------> AB
-Water injection ENABLED! -------> WI
-NO2 ENABLED! -------------------> NO2
-Erhöhte Notleistung ENABLED! ---> EN
-Forsazh ENABLED! ---------------> F
-Water-Methanol injection ENABLED! WMI
-Start u. Notleistung ENGAGED! --> SuN
-+ 100 inserito! ----------------> +100
-Others -------------------------> WEP

In addition, I changed messages for "Mission Complete" to "Mission Accomplished" and "Mission Over" to "Failed Mission".

VERSION 2
Also replaces "pitch" with "R.P.M." about propeller and set "Low"/"High" for supercharger gear position (plus "3rd Speed" where applicable).

Thank you! :)

Indeed, it reduces dramatically screen "clogging" especially when some kinds of WEP are enabled; given also that writing is permanent and glowing, personally I felt much the need of it! ;)

Other details I think are more correct and in some instances perhaps less misleading. :-\

Cheers,

... personally, since I don't like on sceen messages at all because I feel they are immersion killers, I went as far as replacing all these WEP etc ... messages, by     . or * or ,    etc ... much more discrete ...  :P

I also agree to Mick, same here, but sometimes I wish I had the text as some situations and planes simply call for more info, in such cases a mod like greybeard's here comes in really handy.
Wish Oleg had introduced an on off ingame switch for all text messages, not only the default HUD.

... well I have nothing against them, when they are "realisitic", for ex for modern jets that have hud displays, or even helmet displays, but this is not the case with ww2 warbirds ...  ;)

Steven197106 recently posted a very interesting interview with a veteran FW190 Dora pilot, and he said that almost the only gauge he would check in flight was the boost one, hence he didn't know the max rpms his engine would reach ...
