game doesnt launch
« on: July 08, 2015, 03:29:29 PM »

Ok. I installed all my files directly to the main il2 file, yet when i try to play the game with the selector in one of TJA files, the game doesnt launch. I followed the instructions closely but it still doesnt work.

it is really hard to offer help with so little information. the CUP download and installation posting includes a "how to" section for creating a logfile. this logfile can help to figure out whats going wrong.

Code: [Select]
1) Please check these lines are present in your CONF.ini:

[Console]
LOG=1
LOGFILE=logfile.txt
LOGKEEP=0
LOGTIME=0
HISTORY=1024
HISTORYCMD=1024
LOAD=console.cmd
SAVE=console.cmd
FOVlog=1

after this is set, start the game again, and then open the logfile.txt in your il-2 folder. scroll all the way down to the last lines, see if there are error messages or such... you can copy those into a posting here

best using the INSERT CODE option from topic posting!

He as lost a imporant file he missed here is a way not to lose a file
1st in the mission folder make -temp folders and number them like 1-10 then unzip what you want into them then open them up and look at the file structures a lot of mistakes are done this way like missing a sfs file you need in the main il2 folder along with a dill and wrapper file. tkes longer but you will not miss anything you need.
Now you get to start over have fun

modact 5.3 and il-2 4.12.2 is correct. have you tried running it without CUP? does that work properly? maybe you have the folders wrong, maybe try making a screenshot from your folder to show?

yea the game only launches through steam or the il2.exe in the main folder, not in the mme file or the jet age folder

I think I know what is going on here, maybe...

Monty's install instructions are a bit imprecise. He says to unzip the downloaded files to your main game folder. Well, that's not exactly what needs to happen. When you unzip the downloaded files, you get another folder. Inside that folder are the files/folders that need to be moved/copied to your main game folder. So, unzip the files, open the unzipped folder, copy those files/folders to your main game directory. (I got caught by this problem once.)

Edit: If you installed Modact correctly, there should a IL2-Selector.exe in your main game folder.   ??? You should at least be able to start Modact or the stock game thru that.

That install is so fucked up that you need to start over. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but there's no point in trying to fix it. I would suggest that you do a fresh install after you do a little more research on this site and ask a few more basic questions. Could a Steam guy jump in and explain the special Steam issues? THX
