Just come back from a few weeks holiday. Very happy to see the Hampden make it, congratulations to all involved.

There seems to be a few problems though, as mentioned in the first post, so was wondering if any one was aware that Hawkman over at SAS kindly offered a 90%complete model of a Hampden a while back

Would it be easier to get this model imported rather than import the Alphasim model made for FS?

regards

slipper

edit by admin : misleading comment as this gave a link to a post containing the same original model from alphasim as donated by Dreamk actually.

This work is considerably further advanced that what I have seen at FM.
Importing of the Alphasim parts is completed, and the model is already textured.
There would be no advantage to be gained from reverting to an uncompleted and untextured model.

None of the  "Limitations/known Bugs" referred to in the first post have been addressed in the other model.
These are not problems so much as a list of "To Do" tasks to progress the model from WIP status to complete.

Incorrect, Ash - the model has been completed & textured since the original post.

And I would have thought that the advantages of using original 3d work created specifically for IL2 rather than importing polygon-heavy models from other sims would be obvious.

My comments were based on the last images you posted "in public" at FM
Thanks for the correction.

I am very happy to see this plane in the sim.  In all flight simulators my favorite period is 40-41 and especially RAF night bombing.  Excellent work to all involved.

I know these are minor but have not read them listed.
   1. Pilots canopy when bailing out does several loop-the-loops around the plane before dropping away.
   2. When bomb bay is open, rear gunners legs extend into bomb bay and there is a floor structure in the front 1/4 of the bomb bay.
   3. Nav lights R/L are not at wing tips and rear white lights are behind the plane
   4. Landing light performs well but the glass cover seems to divided (could just be the texture) and seems to suggest twin lights but several historic photos appear to be one clear cover.  Either way the single light in the sim seems to be slightly off center to the 'glass' cover but works well in the game.
   5. When the notes read 'heavy caliber all around' i thought it meant the twin K gun armament but the defensive fire seems too effective for twin .303  I know some like this but  I would like to place 1 vote for a historic load out in the final release.
Minor issues for later consideration but I just wanted to post them.

Thank you for your input Hawkman, your comments and the points you raise in your post are noted.

Sadly as few people visit that site these days - let alone see what is going on behind the scenes, and read this,

we have no idea what you are up to.

Congrats gents. That is a mighty good looking Hampden. A big gap has been filled. Thx for your work. If you want to, I can give a shot at building a skin template for the old lady ;)
