Darwin spitfires - A new campaign for C.U.P.
« on: August 24, 2015, 05:08:54 PM »

Hello Guys !  ;)

As dpeters95 told me, you may encounter a little difficulties playing this campaign after installing WAW-20 ! It is due to a different AIR.INI for the Spitfire Mk V c. So I gather all my huge knowledge about mission building and corrected it. It was a matter of swaping the SpitMkVc with the Spit Mk V C 16 lbs (Adding a little more power is always good use, especially while fleeing Zeke  :P) and change the name in Skins folder. Here is the link for WAW-20 and only for WAW-20.

https://www.mediafire.com/download/4u3l8v9xm4vakcj/Darwin_Spitfires_for_WAW20.rar

I also removed the "_fr" I love so much !  ;D

If any more troubles, PM me  ;) !

Cheers,

Poussin

Fly Spitfire Vc over Darwin with N°1 RAAF Wing in 1943.

A 12 missions static and semi-historical campaign over Australia for CUP !

Here is the link :

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2191

Darwin, Australia, 1943

No1 Wing RAAF was formed on 7th October 1942, grouping n° 452 RAAF, n° 457 RAAF and n°54 RAF squadron, to replace n°49th USAAF squadron and straighten the defence of Darwin against japanese attacks.
This wing, under command of Group Captain Allan Walters and Wing Commander Clive Caldwell, was equipped with Spitfire Mk Vc tropicalised and based At RAAF Station Darwin, Batchelor airfield and Livingstone airfield.
The wing saw his first engagement in early February 1943 and saw lot of action during the whole year of 1943.

Your are an experienced pilot in 457th RAAF squadron flying spitfire Mk V from RAAF Darwin station. Your main task will be to intercept Bombers and try to avoid dogfighting with "Zeros". ;D

Good luck !

Author's note :

This campaign has been design for a full CUP installation.
Start with highest rank
Do not try to outturn a "Zero"
Stay alive
Have fun !

This campaign requires full CUP. I recommend also the excellent VisualMod8 or 9 by PAL for Rearm / refuel, as sometimes bombers make a grant tour to american bombers'base !

If you have problem with the map, please see post 1007 of the following page :

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,44975.msg507426.html#msg507426

I do hope that you will enjoy these campaigns. As it has been a very long work, I am open to constructive remarks only !

Hi There,

A very cool campaign indeed.  :D
I haven't flown a campaign for a long time so I think I will start off with this one being a CUP flyer.
Did you use the book Spitfires Over Darwin?
I have Darwin's Air War 1942-45 by Bob Alford.  ;D

Thanks for the great work and excellent campaign.  :D

Cheers

G'day, this looks great, thank you for your hard work. Will have to download and give it a go.
I hope the Spitfires don't have the CSU and cannon failures that they did in real life, otherwise it could be a very frustrating time  ;)
Darwin Spitfires by Anthony Cooper is a good read for those interested in this theatre. Includes some very good discussion of tactics etc as well.

Just flew the first mission, and I am pleased to report that the cannons work really well  ;D
A note to users, to get the briefings to appear in English just delete the "_fr" from the properties files.
Thank you for this campaign Poussin1, much appreciated. Now to fire up the old Darwin Defenders campaign to get a bit of P40 action as well!

Please see post by vegetarian which I have included.  I think I had the same problem and did as vegetarian said, "just delete the "_fr" from the properties files.
Good luck :)

I got the map & briefings working normally with the patch also..thank you

This campaign just shows me how badly I fly the spitfire...Can't hold altitude or heading worth a hoot.

The trim buttons just won't hold very well anymore, especially on aircraft with a loose FM's.
I think I really need to get some new controls, but that ain't gonna happen to soon..ha ha
