7-8 years works and still alive, find a new Upgrade in first Post.
Please read carefully, both Topic Post and Read Me, content is so much, I could write tons of stuff.
But I leave here, at parts this still being worked at, in order to not sit on it like big fat chicken
I thought I share this to public.

Go for it

Fantastic skin pack!

Great to see the 3 Squadron Hurricane that I posted recently at M4T be included.
It will be interesting to see what it looks like in colour. Blue, grey and purple mottled camo.

The 3. Sqn. Picture has developper stains from crappy process, I would suggest from the stain it's appearant from
the roll, developper over exposed and not floating fluidly, hence a large area is bullshit.
At definite details you must have this in mind.

What is definite, the Sky was changed with the Sky blue Mix, the same colour is the Spaghetti Underpainting.
It is thus a rare complete repaint in 3. Sqn use in early Service. Very rare.
The blotches are debattable, but in the two colour range, 2 different hues.
The real outlook who knows?

The bright Blue is the early MU's alternative for Sky, brighter than Azure, even brighter than
a fresh sky. The grey and purple are subjective colours from one of 3.Sqn Veterans.
The same source describes them (other Veteran) as being greens and browns over Sky Blue.
The truth is between. Both are right under different perspective.

A grey can also lead to a Greenish Grey, which is similar to Drab Olive.
Purple can be a truely reddish Brown. Both where used by Italians,
one Verde Mimetico 2 was grey-green and they had a Marrone Mimetico 2 purple hazel.

You must have the backend at Italian colours too, since it's close to mimicry them?!

Grey purple on bright blue I took into testing:
simple b/w scale and found the contrast between grey and purple to heavy and
"different from any known 3. Sqn Spaghetti...
Definitely not seen on 3.Sqn a/c.

73 and 274 and others wore such crazy contrast Spaghettis.

Though the Sky Blue sometimes can't match, when examples had Sky Blue Blotches instead darker Brown and the underpainting was in the Light sand up to Light earth range, way darker than Sky Blue or whatever that mixed colour was.
To stretch range of possible colours, one must get to know pre war Middle East colour standards,
Malta, Aden, Palestine or Tropical Schemes.

Dark and Light Spaghetti comparison in one Picture:

I found out they could simply have changed composition, taking underpainting from the Blotches colour
to induce a darker appearance? Who knows, but definitely these where artistic and individual as hell.

G'day Segfej

Your P3818 is 100% accurate, what number do you think this skin (original P3818) should be?
Photo of Clive Caldwell's Hurricane during his brief spell at 73 Squadron.
We're talking second half April '41.
Although he flew combat missions with them he is never mentioned is their ORB.

Unless a better scan pops up from the Collector of this Photograph, we'll never know exactly.
The source picture is sharp enough at that Detail, well put up blend setting from what I see
just a really lousy repro.

Another source can be Caldwells Logbook if such exists?!

Seems to be in fresh shape as it left MU, Midstone and the Sky blue mix
V or Z Serial Range, but wild guessing.

Been there, done that,

V7795 was part of a group of Hurricanes that were presumably "bought" during wings week and given appropriate names, whether the name survived any repainting is unknown.
edit author: those I found where at least a bunch of repaintings.

Code: [Select]
V7773 Surrey

V7774 Cheltenham Queen.

V7775 Sussex

V7776 Spirit of R.F.C.

V7777 Go To It

V7778 Vicy

V7779 Alma Baker

V7780 Alma Baker Malaya

V7795 Alma Baker Australia

V7796 Alma Baker New Zealand

Stay away from this Guys colour retouching projects:

https://saafww2pilots3.yolasite.com/johnny-eloff-photographs.php

Look up these pictures, in the original you can see the Spaghetti is a 3-Tone,
his majesty did a 2-Tone from it, spectacular. I saw a bunch of such treated Pictures from him,
SAAF, 3.Sqn. RAAF and others, all allegdly 2 Tone. WaaaaahhhhhT?

Never trust scale builders fantasy, instead use up optical trials to see it can match up...

Such low contrast Spaghetti was existent, but then a 3rd colour, very bright was added, look up the 73sqn example V7859, but even than, the underpainting goes into light sand direction, some tads brighter than this ...

The first example of a similar underpainting can be found on 85 Sqn inventory BOB timeline.
A possible clearance for these early underpaintings where the repainting from night/day into sky.
This has no relevance for the introduction of the Western Desert MU applied Sand and Spinach or Spaghetti.
