A big problem with ATI/AMD drivers
« on: September 07, 2015, 02:01:07 PM »

Well, I have a problem here.

I was using AMD Catalyst 14.12 and never definitely updated it, since it made my Il-2 crashing. (the il2fb.exe began to gather some memory usage, but instead of showing the loading screen, il2fb.exe just stopped, without any message)

Unfortunately, another user of the PC thought it was a good idea to update to 15.7.
Of course, Il-2 didn't launch anymore.

So I uninstalled the new drivers and reinstalled the trusty 14.12.

Problem is: Il-2 is still not launching.  :\'(

Any ideas to resolve this problem ?

(Win7 32 bits, Radeon HD 5770, using OpenGL)

With that card, have the same, the best driver for IL-2 for me was 10.9. The latest is not always the greatest.

But to remove the driver correctly, you need to go into the AMD suite, TBH I forgot how that went, do not only remove it, do it properly. Something along first removing the suite and in a 2nd step all driver tracers.

But wait until someone else posts and most important, read the newbie section stuff and post a logfile!
Cheers

Well, I found the solution, indirectly thanks to you  :P

While I was searching in the conf.ini the [console] section, I noticed that my resolution was completely broken. My native resolution is 1440*900, while the one in the conf.ini was a strange one, like 1368*1024... I dunno how my conf.ini took this resolution instead of my native one, especially being in Read only...

But anyway, putting my native resolution fixed the problem.

Sorry for having created a thread for a dumb thing like that !
