There is no known relationship between the il2/Mission/Campaign folder (the subject matter of this thread) and any failure to launch the sim/game.  The reason for any failure to launch a specific mission from within the correct campaign/single mission menu will always be clearly indicated in the LOG file.

Your short statement is so vague I'm not even certain you have a CUP-DOF install.

Obviously something has gone wrong for you.  Bear in mind it has taken many hours to construct and test these missions.  You could at least post a coherent enquiry in order to help locate your mistake.

This terse 'it don't work' type of comment - is probably the most crass, banal, irritating kind of blunt force trauma that modders and mission makers have to face.  ::(

Thanks mate, its good to share this stuff.  27 WWI campaigns so far and at least as many more to come. :)

It sounds like you have some items missing but in order to pin down potential errors, be they in your install, flightline or written into the mission - we are going to need more detail.  Let me know the actual mission you are having problems with please.

One way to check the presence of aircraft while flying is to browse through enemies and friendlies, I use F11/F12 for this, to see what is actually flying.  The really early campaigns are, like the air war at the time, pretty quirky and not always what you would expect.  Many aircraft appear at specific timed intervals too, designed to surprise the player.  The huge numbers of aircraft dogfighting like a swarm of gnats over the battlefield don't happen until well into 1916.  But they do happen and they are there.

Earlier on in the air war the missions are very hard and often its a real struggle just to get through the weather and deal with the 'relatively' poor performance of the earliest aircraft.  However, there is certainly plenty to see and do.  Even the tough missions are achievable and all of the elements should be present.  I tested and flew all of the missions successfully before uploading them.  I will be happy to re-test any that you indicate.

I also don't understand the 'featureless map' description.  Can you post a screenshot?  I'm a visual guy, most of us are, and screenshots are very useful in this regard.

You don't have to go re-installing all the time either.  CUP is modular, really friendly with the Il2 sim and does not effect anything outside of itself.  So if you are running OK but missing some small componant its a matter of finding out what it is and dropping it in.

Can you confirm that you have activated #CUP_00-Forgotten Countries from JSGME as per the directions in the campaign intro?

'Forgotton Countries' is a brilliant mod that extends available nation choices for aircraft.  It is widely used in these campaigns in order to clearly separate the AI from the player and ensure 'radio silence', and other desirable conditions, are enforced.

Failure to do this will result in the symptoms you are describing.

UPDATE:
Checkout page-1 of this post:

The B.A.T. - Rewrites and extras are coming.  Dawn of Flight is hugely improved within B.A.T. and these campaigns contain every requirement in place ready to go.  B.A.T. is constructed in such a way that nobody can 'part build' it.  You either have B.A.T. or you don't.

Previously, many new players failed to appreciate the Il2 extension 'Forgotten Countries', which most old hands have active and take for granted.  With B.A.T. 'Forgotten Countries' is built in.  There are now no 'special instructions' and nothing you can miss.  B.A.T. is such an easy system, to work with and to share.  As with everything B.A.T. - These work 'right out of the box.'  ;D

Hi Monty!
Fantastic news! Thanks for all your efforts in BAT development and campaign design.

Can I give you a piece of advise before releasing your WWI campaigns?

I'm trying to make a humble contribution to the BAT community. Lacking high-tech knowledge in modding and so, I'm just trying to add flavour to the campaigns, reworking and adapting awards of some countries to the Great War environment. I've finished French awards and have Russian almost done. I've learned too how to include this awards in DOF without overwriting the default WWII ones. I'll try to upload a set with French, British, German and Russian awards and ranks as soon as posible.

In the meantime, I've learned that there is a tricky in-game behaviour in awards recognition, which is controlled by the lines

[Main]
Class il2.game.campaign.CampaignRed
awardsClass il2.game.campaign.AwardsRUfighter

which are included in the campaign.ini file inside every campaign

awardsClass il2.game.campaign.AwardsDEfighter: it has nothing to do with Germany. It describes just that awards are earned in a lineal sequence, from the lesser one (award0) to the most important one (award6 or higher).

awardsClass il2.game.campaign.AwardsRUfighter: it uses the Sovietic award system, in which you can earn the same award more than once. This option should be used just for Sovietic campaigns, whereas German, British, French and any other country should have AwardsDEfighter insinde the campaign.ini file.

Here you have a picture of a French campaign awards which was wrongly set as AwardsRUfighter:

As you can see, the Military Medal has been incorrectly awarded twice.

In my humble opinion, ALL campaigns in DOF should be set as AwardsDEfighter, to get all awards in a sequential order.

Another minor suggestion is to place the Russian campaigns in a RE folder instead of RU folder. In the properties file #DOF2 > STD > i18n > country, there is listed a RU country (changed to 'Imperial Russian Air Service' for DOF) and a RE country (an unused 'Russian Empire'). I think it should be better to use RE for the Imperial Russian Air Service (with its own awards and ranks), and keep RU for the Soviet Army (so it could be used for a Russian Civil War campaign).

I will try to explain this with more detail when I release the awards sets, but I thought it would be better to tell this before Monty uploaded the campaigns, just in case he wanted to take this into account.

Cheers!
