Mouse pointer lost in Win 10
« on: October 02, 2015, 04:05:37 PM »

Hi, I've had a look at previous mentions of this problem and the "Alt+tab" or "Windows button" doesn't solve it.  I've put in the latest mouse drivers and video drivers, heck I've even reinstalled CUP but to no avail :-(  When IL 2 has loaded, as soon as I touch the mouse the pointer goes -it's fine using any other application whilst IL 2 is in the background but this makes the game unusable.  Any ideas out there?

When I was under Win XP I had to hit the Windows key to get the menu to pop up and then select something or move up and down the Windows start menu (with the arrow key) to get the pointer back.

I am now under Windows 10 and sometimes I get the mouse pointer active right away, some other times I have to just Alt+Tab to get it back.
I was also every now and then losing the mouse altogether, I am pretty sure this had nothing to do with IL-2 but the way my machine/the OS handled the USB ports. I use a wired mouse now and so far so good.

If all fails, I would try a fresh Vanilla game, no mods, no change in conf.ini and so forth and see if you can get the pointer working (with the Alt+Tab / Win key actions).

Good luck!

Thanks Zoran for your input.  I have tried the start menu trick and also went through several different versions of Il 2 that I have lying around my PC.  I have also tried compatibility mode, both with and without launching the program as an administrator and now I am running out of ideas :-(  Oh, and I have tried various USB ports for my wired (Logitech MX 518) mouse.  The nights are drawing in and it's close to Il 2 time, so I need to find a fix soon!

emken67,

Under Win10, the mouse will not work in IL2 if your desktop is zoomed to greater than 100%. I change from 125% back to 100% when I want to run IL2. It's a little bit annoying. I wish I hadn't upgraded to Win10, but too late now.

Also having trouble with the mouse pointer and W10.
I have a X52 and the throttle has a mouse control who apparently has compatibility issues with the regular mouse; sometimes all the mouse pointer do is running around the screen on its own will. Quite annoying during a dogfight since it controls your view!
No remedies found for the moment.
And unplugging the X52 crash W10!
Hope Microsoft gets its act right and solves all these bugs soon. Miracles happen ;D

Hi Oberst, as mentioned in my initial post I have searched the forums and the answers provided didn't help, but thanks for the reminder.
