BRING ON THE SOUNDS!

This may seem like a small sized update but size isn't everything!  These bits and pieces have been knocking about for ages while certain specific conflicts were solved and a whole bag of soundfiles was tuned up.  When it was all ready the result was quite spectacular and all the loose stuff compressed nicely to a tiny SFS.

It may be small, but this is a BIG update!

Dawn of Flight Sound Mega-Boost! SAS~Monty27

A lot of the basic engine sounds were way too quiet, often overwhelmed by the windnoise!  The DBW1916 soundmods translated partially to CUP DoF but there still seemed to be a lot of gaps, IMHO.  The sound package for DoF was patchy and inconsistent at best.

Thanks to Alotef for better MG and rpm sounds.  For everything else I spent some time mixing and matching in order to create a more balanced soundscape overall.

I took what worked best for me and then filled in the gaps.  The result is that pretty much every engine is a lot louder and throatier and everything is louder overall.  For an instant comparison try the Sopwith Pup and SPAD VII before you install this upgrade then go back. - Its night and day!  I particularly like the Camel now, there are loads in there to explore...

Plus, we now have two more beautiful aircraft, and statics, from Mission_Bug's conversion of Giotto's original work.  Big thanks to both of you guys.

The Hansa-Brandenburg D.I, also known as the KD (Kampf Doppeldecker) was built for Austria-Hungary.  Some aircraft served to the end of the war.  The D.I entered service in Autumn 1916.  Its unusual arrangement of interplane bracing gave rise to the nickname "Spider",while its poor handling gave rise to the less complementary nickname "the Coffin".

The D.I was the standard fighter aircraft of the Luftfahrtruppen until mid 1917, being used by several Austro-Hungarian air aces such as Godwin Brumowski and Frank Linke-Crawford.  Some Phönix built D.Is remained in use until the end of the war, being used briefly by the armed forces of The Republic of German Austria (Republik Deutschösterreich), where they fought Yugoslav attacks on Klagenfurt in Carinthia.

Aviatik Berg DI Fighter own slot. Mission_Bug
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,48479.0.html

The Aviatik (Berg) D.I was also known as Berg D.I or the Berg Fighter because it was designed by Dipl. Ing. Julius von Berg.  The D.I was the first locally designed fighter aircraft of the Austro-Hungarian Air Service (Luftfahrtruppen).  The aircraft was introduced during the autumn of 1917 and went on to serve until the end of the war.

Austro-Hungarian aviation units used the D.I widely until the end of World War I on Eastern, Italian and Balkan fronts, mainly as an escort for reconnaissance aircraft, as most of the fighter units preferred the Albatros D.III for air superiority.

If you have independently installed these aircraft, and discovered the conflict with the Aviatik C.I, make sure you have eliminated classfile 61CCC6C004CB0F6A.  If not then no worries, it ain't in here!

Good to know you have them OK lads.  Like I said; it should have all been in Part-08 but that Aviatik classfile conflict took a little searching out and further testing.

Now we have all of them working with no conflicts, good result.  ;D

and what about those sounds!!!!!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Great work Simon!!!   :) :) :)

Just a question: For DOF part 8 and 9 anything to disable in jsgme? Just Install - UnZIP/UnRAR to main Il2 directory and allow over-write for part 8 and 9?

Many thanks for your reply!

Ciao!

Hello guys!

first of all thank you very much to Simon for the new addition to DOF and of course part 2 of his campaign set...

Marko, I confirm, just copy over pt.8 and 9 and there you go...just did it myself and the game works splendidly; I am loving the addition of the Austro-Hungarian birds; must try a campaign in them soon...

A great pack sound, dear Monty!
 :D

What about a future fixing of Fokker D VII?
I'm talking about the famous "nervous tic" that causes shaking problem while flying this plane.
Thanks,
Poiana.

Yes it is a beautiful aircraft but has a speed limit!  It is more noticeable launching airborne in QMB.  Using ground starts and takeoffs it seems to be OK because it takes longer to hit the limit.  Tests for the D.VII campaign were good.

Maybe in the future some Flight Model tweaking will raise its tolerance - The word is out...

Yes dear Monty I also noticed what you say about QMB airborne or ground starting.
I hope that someone might improve FM in future.
Thanks for your reply.

P.S. I will install your campaigns as soon as...

Just another note of thanks. It's especially nice to have the star-strutter in the stable.

At the risk of slipping OT, I'd like to suggest a few future additions: the Fokker D.VIII, SPAD XIII, and some Junkers J-series machines would be interesting. I have seen that at least one of these, the Fokker, is available as a separate add-on. Haven't quite worked up the nerve to try that yet.
