I tried on a back-up that is still at hotfix 18 and the compasses for Ki-83 and Ki-84 family work fine and also after the update to hotfix 23 they keep working normally. Could it be that the glitch is system related? As this backup is on a laptop with integrated GPU I am running IL-2 on Directx even though I can't see any relation???

From a logical and computer science standpoint it shouldn't, but who knows. This game is old enough to vote as it is  ]dontknow[

Could it be that the glitch is system related?
I would rule this out as I can reproduce the glitch using HF 23, QMB "Coral Sea Essex Class" using just a single Ki-83 with mission target "none", airspawn @2km - whereas on HF 24 doing the same, on the very same system, shows no issues.

it is very strange as I checked on my regular UP3.4 that I use to connect on line and the glitch is not there. I used the Pacific Island Map 1,000 m spawn and scramble missions with the Ki-83 and the three Ki-84 everything seems fine including the  stop in rotation when the bank angles pass a certain limit.

Yes, strange indeed.
I will take the instance that is affected and will put further individual classes in to get down to the root cause of this issue.
Takes some time, but then again, I've got no schedule to follow anyway.

Alright gents.
I know I've seen the issue with the Ki-83 compass for once in one of my installations (the untouched online one btw.), but:
I cannot reproduce it.
For f*cks sake, whatever I do, the issue disappeared.
I didn't touch a thing, definitely. It just disappeared.
Therefore, if any of you can guide me to the parameters which trigger the issue for you (secrets?) like which qmb mission, which planes, spawn altitude, difficulty settings etc., then please let me know.
As long as I cannot reliably reproduce this thing, I will not be able to tackle it.

Happy to Mike, sorry for the delay. Only mods I have are as follows: Various Weapon Sounds/effects from Wxtech and FL2070, No flybyreset as well as the Next Gen sound mod and a couple of cockpit fixes for the ME262. To my knowledge all of these should not effect them in this way.

The mission we were running was on the sas1946.rocks server... I can't remember the name, but it was the one with the Jap base on the crest island with the Rufes. I can dig it up from the cache if you want.

Hope this helps get the bottom of it.

Cheers,

sercrets.

Can you guys confirm that if that issue happens, there's some pink wing textures visible initially in cockpit view when turning your head around?
Happens in 1st spawn only (to me), quite like the compass bug itself: It seems to rotate in 1st spawn only. Respawn = Everything's fine.

Besides that, looking at the log it seems like this is a sound mod issue.
Whatever sound mod you have installed, please disable it and check again.

Just FYI, here's a preliminary list of fixes in HF 24 - it's all WIP still, not far from release though.

Here's some further things tackled during the past two weeks:
Code: [Select]
* Maximum player slots on DServer raised from 128 to 65534
* Hawker Hart prop rotation fixed
* Refly bug fixed (details to follow in release post)
* Jet Engine Throttle response fixed
* Fixed an issue where a Heinkel Lark could be abused as flak-tower by applying chocks, then rotating the plane around on ground like a flak gun
* Fixed an issue where X-4 missiles could still be controlled/steered when pilot already bailed out
* F7F Tigercat excessive flap lift fixed
* F7F Tigercat top speed fixed: previously 500mph @ 27kft, now F7F-3 450mph @21.5kft and F7F-3N 446mph @21.9kft
* Aichi D1A prop rotation direction fixed
* "Sticky" disabled torque&gyro effects fixed on 109 CRP, cars, F-72, J7W1b, MB.5, P-47DT, Seafire 46&47, and TB2D
* Excessive flap lift fixed on Super Electra
* Erratically disabled torque&gyro effects re-enabled on Lockheed Electra, Super Electra, Hudson, Aichi D1A, and AW Whitleys
* Xf5U "flying pancake" flight model issue (rolls on it's back at high speed) fixed
* BP Defiant turret net replication update, new plane-specific net protocol implemented
