I must stress that both Java 8 and Java 17 for the time being are there just as proof of concept, strictly BETA and as such problems are to be expected.
The fact that activating Java 8 results in an "older" Selector version is due to the fact that Java 8 and Java 17 ship with an own (custom) selector version strictly tied to the il2fb.exe shipped with TD's dreaded 4.15 patch.
The resulting file conflicts (Selector, il2fb.exe, dinput.dll, wrapper and the whole bin folder itself) are the reason for issues reported e.g. by FL 4 posts above this one.

I don't wanna say that the improvments you've noticed are placebo effects, what I can say however is that at the moment Java 8 and/or Java 17 cannot really be taken advantage of in modded games such as Ultrapack, because TD decided to strip any wrapper (and with it: Mods folder) support from the server executable, which means that modded games either have to stick to Java 1.3 code compatibility (Ultrapack) or they'd have to stop supporting dedicated server operation (viable e.g. for BAT, as it lacks dedicated server support anyway).

If we ever should be bored enough to unlock TD's server executable, we could make Java 8 (or maybe even 17) the default VM and at the same time lift code compatibility to corresponding standards, which would really gain some points in terms of performance and stability, but right now we're simply not there yet, and god knows whether we'll ever be.

Apparently there are some teething problems with the latest update, as you can see from the screenshot, the skins are not presented in alphabetical order

Maybe there's a misunderstanding here.
The skins are presented in alphabetical order, it's just that they're treated case sensitive as well.

So by the same token there is a need to be careful with case while naming folders?

No, unless your skins are stored on a case sensitive filesystem (read: NOT Windows).
I think we should treat this like a "glitch" that might get fixed in the next hotfix.
There's a further (and IMHO much more severe) issue with the new skin folder scanning in that it tends to lock up the game when you select a "comment" line with asterisk in the plane list.
Whenever I get back to that, I might as well enhance the underlying Common Utils class in order to give the ability to return the filelist in case insensitive sort order (which is what most Windows Users would expect).

I can confirm as while looking at the skin order i accidentally selected the asterisk in stead of the plane in qmb and got a ctd

Hotfix 10 got released: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,67406.msg763628.html#msg763628
Skin order is case insensitive now, CTDs when selecting a "placeholder" line from the planes list is resolved.
Java 8 and OpenJDK 17 JSGME mods have been removed (it's been a BETA test and it didn't pay out).

Crash report:
Game crash at 18:31
https://www.mediafire.com/file/di6invajr5c7chq/08.01.2023_Server_Game_Crash.7z/file

Yeah my fault, obviously I used wrong Class dumps for my Open Canopy Mods here.
Thanks Mike for the hint, will redo this stuff from the latest Hotfix Dumps now.

Hallo Mike,

...a big thing this Patch 10!

Do you still have healthy fingertips after all the typing?

One thing that has bothered me for what feels like 100 years has disappeared - JUHU!

These fucking edges of the runways (Stationary Ships).

Thank you very much for all your efforts, I know what/how these typings can get on your nerves, how difficult it is to keep track of so many different tasks...

...man (I) shout "shit" 100 times a day when you deal with something like that.

Always NONE, But the Soviet Airborne Radar such as MiG-17 P/F Radar Screen Freeze during Multiplayer, I check the QMB for MiG-17 with Radar is Fine, German Radar such as FuG, A Spike Radar can Detect up to 10km on the Forward arc. It Only works for Offline and Online, but the MiG-17s Radar works for the Offline but Does not work on the Online....

No Logs were Found but the the MiG-17 P/F Radar had an Issue, It never work for the Online.
