60% crash should generate a logfile, which would be extremely interesting to see.

EDIT2: I managed to get it working!!! I had decreased the java memory from 512 to 256. Reverting it back solved it. Leaving the post for prosperity.
1. install the updates on a clean version 4.12.2m on windows (mb try on a fat drive, or a virtual drive)
2. configure wine as per link bellow: winecfg: configure msvcp71 as "Native" and msvcr71 as "Native", "dinput" as "Native, Builtin", Windows 7
that should do it. Ensure the java stuff are left untouched. Now lets see if multiplayer works

EDIT: I found a page on getting it to work on Linux and I managed to see the splash screen and get stuck at 20%!! progress!!!

I dont seem to get any logfile (no initlog.lst), and it has been a while since I was getting stuck at 60% (I solved it by installing everything on my windows machine).
On windows the fully updated UP works well and that is the copy I am trying to make it work in linux, too. Want me to install just the 1st UP 3.4 and get back?
