Thank you, Zoran, for your encouragement.

Zinice = Zenica
I am sorry for the mistake, the correct name of the town in the picture above is Živinice (south of Tuzla).
Zenica town is shown in reply #107 above,  town itself is located WSW from Tuzla, much more distant.

Nice looking towns, Uzin.  Are they auto-popped or hand-built?

Half and half, approx.
Autopopped first, then landmarks (like churches, mosques, castles, bridges, railway stations, stadiums etc.) added by hand and corrections made. Usually,  fine tuning of the river shape inside the town and its vicinity is done, too.

Exemplary as always , Uzin.

A non mapmaker type question if I may.

When you use the autopop tool , do you use it for the entire map at once , or can you select a limited area to do ?

I use it for the entire map at once.
It would be nice to use it for a limited area, but I do not know how to do it,
even not sure if this is possible.
EDIT:
In some sense, it might be possible to autopopulate the limited areas by using several templates separately,
then merge the actors.static files using actors management program.

Thank yo for posting your towns Uzin!
Care and attention give great results.

I have only used autopop a couple of times but from what I remember it picks up all occurrences of a particular value of grey/texture and applies your template, meaning to the whole map.

You can juggle between different actors.static files if you wanted to do only portions of your map:
- Starting with an empty actors.static generate an actors.static for say "City01"
- Load it on its own in your map in FMB+.
- Delete the parts you do not want by hand (mouse selection...), ie all the Italian towns if you wanted to keep the Balkan side only.
- Save your City01-actors.static as "BalkanCity01-actors.static".
- Merge the files with the tool of your choice. Personally I extract and I do it manually, using SublimeText editor under Linux, so that I can handle very large text files.
I did this trick for the city of Leningrad in a previous exercise, I wanted specific patterns for the big city but not for the others spots where City01 happened on the map.
From memory (I may be wrong) you did not have to renumber the entries in the extracted actors.static, just copy and paste and the Actors Management tool will re-do the numbering itself.

When dealing with a large map, you will have differences between villages on the Northern Slovenian border and Bari in Italy ... Some drink beer others mostly wine !

You are quite right !
I tried to do he differentiation by hand, but your way seems much more productive,
the hand of linux programmer is really seen, lol.  ;)
Thank you for hattrick proposals !
By the way, we can differentiate also by using different grey/textures for the north and the south areas of a map, applying several templates to autopop simultaneously. This way the merging of actors is no more necessary.

You could also have temporary map_t files with say, RGB21 only in the area you want autopop to act on.
So RGB21 in Italy but none at all on the other side of the Adriatic. It is quite fast to replace pixels on map_t... then when you are happy with your actors.static you go back to the official map_t.
You will still have to fiddle with different, partial actors.static files though.

Zoran,
I think I  understood your approach !
It can allow to use more than one autopop template for the same RGB/texture, so saving the lines in load.ini.
Just I must learn the merging of actors.static files, I did not tried it yet.

Another question:
can you kindly show which buildings shouild be used in the north of the map, and which prevail in the south part?
The opinion of other members of the Il2 community would be appreciated, too.
