Catapults for non-carrier ships
« on: October 18, 2015, 08:27:03 AM »

First - as this is a request for feature rather then particular ship/plane, don't expect pictures.

As you may know, there are really cool ships being made - for example westerns Kongoo class, Nagato, also Yamato has been released and her sister is WIP... we also have such cool float planes as A6M2-N, E13A,... so what would be really nice to have is basically converting mentioned ships into (kind of) a carrier. We already have catapults - that would not be that much of a problem, maybe it might be hard to set the plane to spawn already on the catapult (also, there is some minimum of spawn points I'm affraid...).

The problem comes after the return to the ship - you can land on water, but if there is a target that has the "has to land" option on, it won't count - the game does not recognise that as a valid landing.

So the next thing we might need is the crane, that would pick up the plane from the water. But well, we already (in catapult mod, was it?) have simmilar feature. So, if we adapt it a little, so that if you hit the "chocks in" button, it will put you up on the deck (or catapult, does not matter) which should act as valid landing.

As for AI landing, we might use the angled deck mode and put there something like a deck that is next to the ship itself...

And then, with help of trigger mod, we can enjoy some scouting fun :)

Cheers.

you can catapult from the Iowa and the I-400 subs, so I think it should be doable on Kongo, Yamato and Ise too; question is if any of the great ship building guys here would be willing to give it a try;

I love the catapults,
but the idea of crane/reattach shouldn't be forced allover i.e. at MAC Hurries.
But the idea is great, sounds lovely...

Well, how would you want to reattach a Hurricane?! :D

I am just saying that game itself does not recognise the water landing as valid - therfore you have to land on a carrier, on ground or - get reattached... or run ashore, somehow.
