Hello KiwiBiggles:
The formal reply   ;)
"What I wrote is my personal feeling about the nuke stuff. I do not proclaim dictations on what you upload-this is a free forum.

Also I don't doubt your character or abilities as human being, I'm simply not a fan of those attacks. That is me and you won't find an SAS admin prohibiting you e.g. Enola Gay screenshots.

~S~"

Other than that, thanks a lot for these references and your opinion mate. :)

I also think those attacks and the Tokio raids shall never be forgotten, and also the overall devastation which was happening in Europe as well.

PS
The link indeed takes you right into the museum, if you place the little fella on that museum:

Will watch it.

Korean Carriers & Catapaults, AI Choppers and Maps
« Reply #13 on: October 30, 2015, 10:10:00 PM »

CV45 USS Valley Forge, and Sikorsky HRS-3.  Korean peninsula, circa 1951.

OK fellas.  For the upcoming AD-4 Carrier Ops Training Mission for 4.09, we need a few more mods installed.

First up, the superb long-hull Korean-era Essex class carriers by modder Asheshouse.  The AD-4 first flew into action from CV45 Valley Forge, with VA-55, on 3 July 1950, so I'll be using her for my mission.  Get the long-hull Essex class here:

-------------------

From the movie The Bridges at Toko-Ri to the TV show M*A*S*H - the Korean War will always be associated in popular culture with the helicopter.  Getting these little suckers into my 4.09 install wasn't as straight-forward as I'd imagined, however.  You can go to the Helicopters section and have a crack at it yourself if you want to try actually (sort of) flying choppers, OR, for your convenience my esteemed guest, I've assembled an easy download of AI-only helicopters that are 4.09-ready, and compatible with the Tiger Flybys (Lite) from earlier in this thread.  Helicopters aren't actually included in the Flybys - but these choppers won't crash your game with Flybys-lite installed.  I've settled for AI helicopters only, since I don't really want to fly them myself (4.09 modact doesn't really cater for a proper helicopter flight model).  These AI whirly-birds are brilliant additions to any Korean War-era mission though, and are a must-have in my opinion!  Credit to modders SAS~Sani, Flakiten, CY6 and SAS~Epervier for these beauties.  Get this thread's ezy-download version, complete with Korean-era pilots, here:

Sikorsky H-19D and Bell 47.

-----------------

Another must-have for Korean-era naval jet ops is a working catapult mod.  I'm using this one, by modder Fireball from memory, which has been around forever:

https://www.mediafire.com/download/mladbrns0tqvm77/0_Carrier_Takeoff_5_3_3.7z

Here's the tip for great cat shots in your missions:  add to the end of the .mis file (in windows notepad) the following lines:

[mods]
  catapultboost 1

The boosted catapult is equivalent to about 30 knots over the deck, and will give you great launches every time.  For consistency I use it in every catapult mission.  The trick is that if you edit the mission in the mission editor, this line will be lost and must be added again manually to the .mis file.  Note that you don't have to leave the game to edit the .mis file, just leave the mission editor, then alt-tab to the .mis file in your missions directory.  Go back to the game once you've added the line, open the mission in the mission editor, or play it from the in-game missions menu, and your cat boost will be in effect. All good?  :)

------------------

And of course we need a great map.  This pack by CY6 is perfect:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15417.0.html

... and here are the Toko Bridges objects, by CY6, from an earlier 1.3 download of the map.  The bridge objects are not included in the download above (for the later 1.41 version) so I've added the download here.  The bridges download includes the readme for version 1.3 of the map, including the static.ini lines to add the bridge objects to your game.  The 1.3 readme is very interesting, but make sure you use the all.ini lines from the 1.41 download above, not the 1.3 readme.  Make sense?

-------------------

I think that's all we need for now.  Mission download coming soon.  Any problems, just holler.   :)

Cheers

ATM I am testing the extracted Panther cockpit, from both my DBW install and here..

https://www.sas1946.com/main/?topic=980.0

Should work..I hope. ;)
I also have Freddy's/master F_Red's original cockpit in higher reso, but I stick to the SAS version unless asked otherwise.
