Any Rebel has "Command & Control" installed and working?
« on: November 16, 2015, 08:27:35 AM »

Hi all!

Tried carefully to install "our" Command & Control, unsuccessfully.

Trouble is that game loading crashes at 70%. (Instant) Log gives following output:

So it seems there's a missing class (the G5 one), but actually NO CLASS IS MISSING! The proof is that, when removed Command & Control, everything works flawlessy, and especially the G5 class is no more vanishing! o_O

I guess this could be related to following warning found at topic linked above:

"Known Bugs!
Since version 1, some objects (FAC / AFAC / RESCAP / ...) cause the registration of errors in the log file.
However, the game seems to behave correctly.
After several tests, we did not find anything wrong ... despite the errors mentioned!
"

What I ask is: has anybody installed it successfully in a 4.09+UP2.01 environment? If yes, how not to have the problem I have?

Of course, I've installed required mods and already asked directly Epervier for help; unfortunately, we both were unable to understand what the problem is.

Eventually, I lost interest in this C&C.

I even installed DBW to taste the thrill of it, but I confess I got stressed and confused in the dark blue world (too dark at night), bombarded of info from Wuerzburg, from Freya, and Lord knows what else, about multiple targets flying in different places; it is an admirable effort, but it isn't like an human dialoguing to guide you exactly in a spot of the sky.

In addition, campaign and set of mods I used to test, added a sky full of clouds (cloud type always = 2), magnified by a specific mod... I don't think in RL the pilot could have seen in such condition a holy heck! Me too! As the icing on the cake, this set of mods deactivates beacons functionality (you have no more among controls commands to get next and previous beacon), making impossible an instrumental RTB (although relevant beacon was set on the mission map).

Last but not least, neither Starshoy's nor Asura's Dgen can manage C&C objects: I mean, you put them on the "blue" mission map, but DGen simply ignore them, refusing to set on mission generated. So the use is limited to static campaigns.

I think I'll try to build something in the 4.09 environment, a dynamic campaign exploiting its much better night vision, faking GCI as directed to the FL, which I will follow.

C&C is a very powerful mission enhancer, that brings a lot of diversity and also improvements (think of dynamic weather for ex) but mainly destined to (static) mission builders ...

Players who would like to take profit of all the effects brought by C&C, of course have to install the proper mod pack ...

I spent quite a lot of time beta testing C&C for Epervier, and each time I tested a new effect I was gladly surprised by the ideas behind it and the bonus interest it would give to missions ...

Unfortunately C&C never became a standard IL2 feature, because of too many class files to modify I suppose (may be due to the codes changes brought by each new DT patch ...)

Good luck with your 4.09 dynamic campaign project ...!  8)
