That's right, Fighter pilots were ordered to create "maximum disruption" to the German transport system by strafing anything that moved, even a humble horse and cart. I knew someone who was in Germany in 1944 and decided to take cover under a road bridge on several occasions when spent cartridge cases started falling from the sky from air battles occurring thousands of meters above him. The cases were tumbling to earth with great speed! Even the sight of a low flying Mustang or other allied fighter would send people scurrying for the ditch. Hard to believe all that destruction taking place....

this ww2 photo blog has many, many nice pics, lots of colorised ones, featuring a lot of aircraft and even more ships, from pre-ww2 as well.
well worth a look, imo - http://blog.livedoor.jp/irootoko_jr/

Before I fly a P-47 mission, I like to watch this film.
In color and well preserved details.

Thunderbolts - Conquest of the Reich

What a great film!

Thanks.

One thing  jump out: shorter landing gear leg / IL-2's P-47.

Smaller external cockpit also, compared to IL2`s model, anyone noticed that?

Absolutely stunning footage, not seen these before. Thank you very much for sharing!
