Holy S***t. I thought it was to be only the summer version. ehm... so, might there be a wintry Berlin too, say... for the February-March 1945 period? Amazing stuff happening here :)

Thanks, mate! I'm sorry but I got no time for a third, winter version. My main problem with it is that I'm not familiar with map editing softwares (I use unlocked FMB for everything) hence manually repopulating the map with winter objects (currently not even in existence) would be an insane amount of work. If you can show me a way how to easily replace 'building A' with 'building B' then I can do it, no problem.
... and @ Zoran post 71 :
use Zuti's Actors Management Tool (link below), it is very useful for map makers:

or here:

As for the width of streets (@Bee in post 65 above), I know that you use default city textures, but these lead to very scarse population of cities, they look then like notes on music drum or the mouth of old beggar with almost all his teeth  away..., lol.
Much better look textures used by e.g. cyberolas, namely those of Compans, which are modified at the landsmark places according to aerial photos.
Another note, it seems to me that the default german buildings are too small in comparison with other buildings in Il-2.
Just my two pences.
I must congratulate to your very gifted choice of terrain textures, they are gems.
Wishing you the best.

Download beta version

http://ulozto.net/xoy8kMnT/vp-berlin-map-rc1-7z
http://ulozto.net/xSvPRWQo/vp-berlin-map-texture-fix-7z
for users with 4.11 or earlier version: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,49784.0.html

Install instructions:
http://ulozto.net/xXvSjx7U/berlin-map-readme-txt

The main goal of this project was to rebuild the map in a fps friendly way. Besided the city I updated every village and airfields, of course everything has new textures. Credits go to Compans for some of the amazing field textures. The map also includes more than 40 new objects, plus countless number of reskins and damage textures for stock and Booomers obj. pack buildings. Only Summer and autumn versions are planned right now. The map requires 4.12, unfortunately I was unable to extract those 3 objects I used (AirdromeMaskingnetMid, ConcreteParkingLarge, ConcreteTaxiLong), so I cant provide a 4.10/4.09 version yet.

I included QMBPro missions for testing, there are destroyed and undamaged Berlin versions in the missions, there are also two single missions in the DE folder for Berlin'45 scenario. I didnt build more missions because Mission4today.com has many Berlin campaigns (by PhilK) and EnjoyR's dgen patch / Reichsverteidigung campaign (by Boelcke) is also recomended.

I hope you're gonna like these maps. :)

Cheers
Istvan

Thanks! The buildings are AMAZING!!! Loved them!

I am in the alpha stages of a totally new Berlin map myself. Not sure the old stock Berlin map is "save-able". It really doesn't look anything like the real Berlin. But you turned a hideous disaster into something attractive and exciting to fly over!

Hey vpmedia, installed your map but can´t fly. I´m on 4.13 Modact 6.01, probably some missing objects. Thanks,

Magnificent job, Istvan, down to the minutest detail (eg. firetrucks and crew fighting the flames!) Installed it in my SAS ModAct 6.01 (413), and all is fine, flew the test missions, I get good fps flying at low altitude. Two - not very shiny - pics,

Thanks Cgagan, I'm glad that you got good fps over the destroyed Berlin because that QMB mission template has ~1500 extra vehicles and objects in and around the city center. :)

I am in the alpha stages of a totally new Berlin map myself.

That's good to hear, because this map project wasn't meant to be historic recreation of Berlin, I look at its as just a fun dogfight arena. I wanted to experience the feeling of fighting over a totally destroyed city and at the same time make some use of the great Berlin ruins imported from the game Tow. People were also complaining about the very low fps over Berlin,my plan was to fix that too...I hope I succeded. :)

Btw the statement "It really doesn't look anything like the real Berlin" is true but you could say this about every stock IL-2 map. Only a very few mod maps are truly historic, Battle of Moscow is one of them.
