I guess you guys wouldn't think it was quite normal around here unless, with the release of these mods, you didn't have your old nemesis, me, to have some difficulty. Well, in order to put things right, here I am with a problem. I did the DOF module install the way I was directed. Even though I am mostly a WAW player I started DOF to make sure it worked. Started up fine, I then tried to load a campaign. It was "The Somme" in Royal Flying Club. All appeared to be going smoothly until I got a window on the screen telling me "Mission Loading Failed!!! Error in FM flightmodels/wwi_engin.emd it isn't present in file wwi_engin_em". I tried doing a search in the DOF folder but I couldn't find anything with those file names. With the last iteration of DOF I learned the importance of Forgotten Countries mod so I made sure it was enabled. Speaking of, in JSGME there are two Forgotten Countries mods, CUP and SAS. Does it matter which you enable? I enabled the CUP one. Anyhow, any suggestions how I should proceed with that campaign? Even though it's often embarrassing to ask, you guys always steer me right. Thank you for your help now, as in the past.
Gentlemen! Thank you - We have been here before. The Nieuport family got a big upgrade with a lot of changes. The danger with large-scale modding is that fatal changes occur in established models. I thought we were OK, you have discovered otherwise! I flew several of those missions and was persuaded we were OK, you have found some gaps.
With RDDR moving house and eMeL testing WAW and JTW, this was all down to me...
Solutions: We know its limited to the Neiuport Family - Weed out the problem entries, tidy up, fix and re-upload the affected missions.
Result: Small drop-in package DOF-10B with corrections carried over to DOF-11 when that is ready.
If anyone should be 'embarrassed' its me, and thanks for pointing it out.
However, nobody should really be embarrassed at all. We are modding the sim. This happens and together we will fix it. That's why we have the CUP Forum and how we have all come so far.
Despite some comments to the contray the fact is that we have all made CUP together. CUP is a unique community project and you have just demonstrated, again, how and why it works so well.
CUP has never been some stuffy, restricted packages put together by people we don't know in ivory towers we can never visit. Instead CUP is dynamic, made by the users and customised through feedback and dialogue. We hit the odd bump, but we are in it together.
Embarassed? - No, I'm proud of CUP and knowing guys like you.
CUP Module 02 Dawn of Flight Pt-10B - Minor fixes before Pt-11
...Later today I expect...
