if youre editing maps every building entry goes into the static.ini, you dont edit any other files

Didn't get time to look at these yesterday vp, but very interested in the possibilities for industrial areas, as you posted, and rail/road networks.

My editing skills with photoshop though are virtually nil, so wanted to ask is there any reason we can't use google earth type images, the same as are used for standard map textures?

cheers

There are some disadvantages and requirements for plates.
First of all it will not blur out as the map textures do but will remain sharp until it completely disappears. Another problem is that from close distance the resolution of the runway plate graphics is not very good, 2048 textures would be the best choice. Requirement is 100% flat ground (rare on most maps so you must prepare the place of the plates in unlocked fmb) and no autogenerated trees around.  Airfields must have their surface covered with blank plates otherwise the landing/takeoff will be bumpy, this is a requirement for the runway plates only.

The free version Google Earth I got is too low resolution imho, but can be used of course.

Many thanks, Istvan, for your offer.
Aren't some of AF those from Mixx's or Pknevas's maps ? Just curious.

Some of my earlier  plates you can find also in Poland maps,. for example that of Jasna Gora, both in summer and in winter versions: http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww341/Uzin_2009/plate%20Jasna%20Gora_zpsyipcsgex.jpg

There are also some of streets added in Lublin city there. Free to anybody use.

Thanks again vp

will give it a try. I noticed your industrial plate that i just downloaded seems to have blurred edges when opened in Gimp, how did you do this please? Would it be possible, only if you have time, to give a quick explanation on how to make a plate from a screenshot, such as google earth. I have made a texture for a map before so i am not completely clueless, is it the same process?

regards

You need to use an alpha channel for the plates.
