Drôle de guerre/Sitzkrieg
« on: January 01, 2016, 01:32:07 AM »

Hi Rebels and Happy New Year! :)

Please accept this "strenna" (special gift traditionally offered on January kalends, according to the ancient Roman custom). It depicts the so-called "Phoney War" fought over Western Europe during Fall 1939-Winter 1940.

This work was been made possible by the generous permission of Vtrelut, author of the original episode (part of his “French Wings”) from which I derived this campaign.

On the basis of version 4.09m of the game and modpack UP2.01, it is required Asura’s DGen_mod, that must be installed as included, with all of its files. For this reason, this is a standalone campaign; do not attempt to play at same time with other DGen campaigns (you may play static campaigns, though). Besides, you must have installed following planes: Potez 631 – Wellington – Junkers 88A-1 – Dornier 17Z (please find relevant links at download page, as well as on included Readme).

When installed, opening menu to start a new career for France you will see listed “Drôle de guerre”. If you choose to play for Luftwaffe, you’ll see listed “Sitzkrieg”.

Credits go to Vtrelut for all the campaign structure and goodies, that I wouldn't have been able to make on my own, as well as to skin makers, detailed inside Readme. I would especially thanks Bbop for his providential Bf-109 dedicated skinpack, which allowed to see "Emils" in the appropriate historical livery.

Hope you enjoy!

Perfect!

Thank you Greybeard!  :)

This campaign fits perfectly with your other DGen campaigns: Bataille de France and The Few!

Is DGen_mod 2.0.1.2 better than the latest version?

Thank you! An encouragement fits well every now and then... :)

Yes, in my opinion. Actually, Asura added a lot of functions in next versions, that I find personally poorly or not useful at all (like all Rhubarbs operations and hydroplanes stuff) leaving more or less all existing bugs and adding new ones (scramble missions no more working, for instance). In addition, next versions virtually lost compatibility with previous campaigns, requiring a complex rework of existing "blue" and "red" missions to get stationary planes and all AAA, otherwise completely missing. For me the unique advantage of version 2.0.3.4 is a slightly better management of aircraft range while building missions, but lately I got the idea to simply cut full range value in AllPlaneDB to 0.4*measured(tested-in-game)full-range, to force generator (which computes radius of action as half of full range!) to reduce mission distance and get drop tanks when available.

Sorry for the lenght of reply, but I do not have anyone to talk... :-X

Hi guys

Greybeard;
I appreciate your long reply!  :)
What is the difference regarding the "blue" and "red" missions to get stationary planes and all AAA"?
I'll probably have some more DGen questions later on if you don't mind, but I'll post them in the Mission section under my old thread "How to make a 3rd party DGen campaign from scratch?".

Whiskey_Sierra_972;
Do you mean DGen campaigns?
I also have intention to make a SCW campaign and also a Poland 1939 campaign and I've made DGen dat files for the following maps: Central Spain, North East Spain, Northern Spain and Poland 1939.
The current DGen_mod version doesn't support Nationalist Spain and Republican Spain as countries. Asura is going to add them in the next Dgen_Mod version.

Cheers

None. Both lose stationary planes and all AAA when used with 2.0.3 onward.

Yes I mean DGen....

But afaik the trouble of last version of Dgen are only for 409 compatibility and not for 410 or 412....or I understand wrong?

I think 2.0.3 is suited only for 4.12. Gound objects "desaparecidos" are likely a consequence of adaptation to skinnable stationary planes. I think remains the glitch about scramble mission... for more details please give a glance to my posts at related thread:
