about the 409
There's a small flightmodel related issue for 4.09 users currently.
Will be fixed with another update today.
The "4.09 addon pack" is just a mistake.
You don't need no addon for this mod.

... I suppose the new FM takes in account the loss of weight (only 2 guns and no bomb racks) ...?  ;)

i would hope so, otherwise this mod puts the Hurri at a disadvantage....which defeats the whole point of the field mod :D

... yep, the point of this field mod was to get a lighter Hurri IIc ...  ;)

Just asking because I can't fly it because of the current 4.09 FM bug ...  ::(

There's also a small glitch, viewed from under, the flaps flicker ...

Another one of Jero's tricks that gives much better wheels too ...  :P

Sure ;)
Thanks for the hint and the report Mick.
That much to those who say "hey, I only asked for removing two guns from an existing plane, what's the deal?".
The deal is that the guns are part of the wing, so removing the guns means modifying the whole wing 3D model, which is 4 LODS and 4 damage models for each side (makes 32 meshes in total) plus shadows (another 32 meshes), hooks, collision boxes (which exist for the cannons too) etc.
Not quite a five minute job but that might be just me lol :))

Concerning the weight, this is in fact a difficult topic.
Unfortunately different IL-2 versions have vastly different flight models for the hurricanes, and to make matters worse, up to and including stock 4.10.1, there is no difference in the flight model between a Hurricane IIb and the IIc.

Just as an example, this is the [Mass] section of the HurricaneMkII.fmd file for IL-2 4.09 and 4.10.1:
Code: [Select]
[Mass]
  Empty 2495.0
  TakeOff 3311.0
  Oil 40.0
  Fuel 307.7
In contrast, this is the same section of HurricaneMkIIc.fmd for 4.11.1 and later:
Code: [Select]
[Mass]
  Empty 2855.0
  TakeOff 3435.0
  Oil 31.0
  Fuel 317.7
And, just for reference, this is the same section of HurricaneMkIIb.fmd for 4.11.1 and later:
Code: [Select]
[Mass]
  Empty 2726.0
  TakeOff 3294.0
  Oil 31.0
  Fuel 317.7

I couldn't find any official weight comparison despited the one posted here which is based on Gunston, Bill - "The Encyclodepia of the Worlds Combat aircraft" (1976, Chartwell Books, Inc., New York), according to which the masses are:
Empty:
  Mk. I: 4,670 lb. (2118 kg)
Mk. IIA: 5,150 lb. (2335 kg)
Mk. IIC: 5,640 lb. (2558 kg)
Mk. IID: 5,800 lb. (2631 kg)
Mk. IV: 5,550 lb. (2515 kg)
Sea Hurricane Mk. IIC: 5,788 lb. (2625 kg)
Loaded:
  Mk. I: 6,600 lb. (2994 kg)
Mk. IIA: 8,050 lb. (3650 kg)
Mk. IIC: 8,250 lb. (3742 kg)
Mk. IID: 8,200 lb. (3719 kg)
Mk. IV: 8,450 lb. (3832 kg)
Sea Hurricane Mk. IIC: 8,100 lb. (3674 kg)

This means we have a whole lot of weights to choose from ;)
What I did in the releases so far was to take the HurricaneMkIIc.fmd from latest (4.13RC4) official buttons and reduce the weight by 140kg (50kg for each cannon + attachments, 20kg for each bomb rack + attachments), which results in these weight figures:
Code: [Select]
[Mass]
  Empty 2705.0
  TakeOff 3295.0
  Oil 31.0
  Fuel 317.7

That's an improvement over the 4.11.1 and later weight, but it makes matters worse for 4.09 and 4.10 users.

wow, didn't realise there were so many discrepancies between the Hurri FMs.....
anyway, i'm quite happy with your solution, Mike, seeing as i'm firmly on 4.12.2 now... :D

... looks like the Hispano 404 fired a 130 g (4.586 oz) 20 mm diameter projectile from a 110 mm (4.331 in) long casing, the whole round weighing 257 g (9.065 oz) x

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispano-Suiza_HS.404

http://spitfiresite.com/2010/04/spitfire-the-hispano-cannon.html

But I don't know the ammount of rounds per belt fed Hispano cannons carried by the Hurri IIC (was 60 per barrel fed (only one cannon) in the French D520) ...

That actually doesn't matter since the rounds loaded count "on top" to the aircraft weight depending on the loadout selected.
In our case (91 rounds per gun) this means that the Malta Mod "automatically" is 182 shells "lighter" than the default IIc since the ammo is not being loaded.

All that has to be taken care of is the weight reduction from removal of cannons, racks and their regarding accessories (I suspect that the maintenance removed wires etc. as much as it was feasible too).
