I would prefer it

Yes, I agree also.
Many months ago I proposed them and the links to these 3d-models for conversion to the IL2-1946+mods game.
They were FREE 3d-models to use.

No one converted or use them  :(

Indeed they would be a great addition, however, to get them into IL-2 they need to meet a few basics.

First of all for anyone to have a chance of putting them into the sim they have to be able to open them first in their own 3d programme so that they can get them into the correct format.

In my case I have gmax but to put anything in to it that is not already a gmax file the necessary model will need to be converted to a format called 3DS.

This was the case with the cavalry figures that RealDarko sent to me, at first I could not open them and he had to approach the original author to open and save them into a format I could use.

They will also need to be within certain polygon limits for them to be acceptable.

I see many links posted here to various models, however, no one even bothers to ask the original authors if first of all they can use them and secondly would they be kind enough to convert them into the appropriate format.

If you want the model added to the game then please do the leg work, get permission and most imprtantly have the appropriate file conversion done first otherwise it is a no go, sorry.

If I remember correctly these models fell into the catagory of not having been converted although I could be wrong and I do not know where the original link was so I could have another look.

Anyway, the map is looking great Stalker, looking forward to seeing it finished. 8)

Take care.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

lol, Alfie - i was about to post an identical comment, but you beat me to it :D
as for the 3d objects shown on the previous page, is there still a link to them..?
i'm not much of a 3d guy, but we have some newer members who are slowly delving into this dark art, and some of these objects might make for a good starting project...?

Regarding the 3d objects, where one can contact the original author?

Well guys, just conversed with Geezer, the WW1 objects maker, he can send me the objects in 3ds format If we can make the objects useable to Il2 by ourselves. Is anyone interested? Maybe you Mission_Bug? There are several objects as you guys have seen, some of them will be really great additions!
