The map was originally made as a request by RealDarko (I think) who asked for a map that would have lots of water and lots of seaplane ports for use with the new seaplanes coming out.

So no worry on this account. The map was more or less specially made for that purpose.

Great, I will try to be patient in my await for this map, looking forward to it

Any good news?

Well, I had almost finished populating a first version, when I partnered up with Uufflakke in making templates. And his were so good and mine so awful, that I shelved all the populating i had done as worse than amateurish. And the same for part of the texturing, especially of the Turkish mainland ... in view of recently released maps, it just wouldn't pass muster.

So it is sort of back to square one on this map I'm afraid ...

The good part though is that Uufflakke has made some outstanding template for villages - which have been adapted and used in other maps since, but which are still meant for this one when work gets going again.

A detailed map for Hellas would perfect, i would like to texture one day such a map  :)

I have old textures for an old project of italy_Df map that could fit pretty well for Grece.

This map will be very appreciated by http://www.maw-superaereo.it/
in order to build an historical campaign. If you need help in order to the italian airfields ask us.

Many english bath-tubes to sunk for italian SM-79 Torpedos  ;D

See you.

p.s.: I'll not spend to much time to put object in Turkia in order that it wasn't involved in WWII (as my historical knowledge remembers)

I know what you mean, but one of the attractions of making maps is also thinking up alternative history scenarios ... sometimes i think I like those more than strictly historical ones ... and I've also had requests for some kind of map including Turkey, either in Europe or Asia ...

I also remembered that as I was ding the populating, Lejo notified me about the new Mediterranean houses he was working on. Since they would be perfect for such a map I thought it justified to wait for these new houses to be able to incorporate them in this map ... and since there are yet more of these repaints coming I think the wait will be justified ...

I would enjoy to learn how to make this. Did you ever try by yourself ?

I tried seeing how making objects works - but that was nothing for me. 3D programs are incomprehensible, at least not without someone to guide you along. And repainting was not that hard, or so it sounded, but it is always a question of time - what to devote oneself to? Making a map, a repaint, a skin?

I'd love to repaint a bunch of objects, but I guess I'd better leave that to those who know more about how it works ...

Well, right now I'm working on a map with Kapteeni - on Karelia (Finland and USSR) - and that is a whole different type of landscape and habitation. I'll try and do some more work on this, but can't say if it will be intensive or not.

And I will be glad and eternally grateful to be able to use them as well. More objects, more objects ... it should be a mantra for modders ... ha ha.

Hope you figure out how it works making 3D objects. I tried a few times but gave up in exasperation ... I need someone sitting next to me explaining it step by step ... even 3D for Dummies is above my head ... ha ha.

Be sure to keep us posted on your progress.

When populating the cities I wished we had more large houseblocks. The ones Canonuk created helped a lot to populate large areas quickly but it would be nice to have some more blocks in other shapes and several height levels. Which makes it easy to combine them to give it much more variety. Just a few more blocks would help a lot already.
I wanted to give it a try in creating 3d house object but somewhere (SAS of AAS or were ever) I read about LOD's, creating shadows, polygons, mapping, importing them in game, the pros and cons of every 3D program; so long story short all this info discouraged me to even get started.
It would already help a lot if existing objects could be enlarged in all directions which could be repainted to make it look like an appartment building or something like that. I asked it in the request forum a while ago but no response...
Hopefully you won't get discouraged and have the patience to master one of the 3d programs.
