An idea would be to make a small "Egypt" airfield on the southern edge of the map.
Axis can take off from the Islands.

Edit:
Just read up on the 1943 campaign.
Very interesting!
There were two Spitfire squadrons on Kos, one SAAF, the other RAF but they didn't last long, they lost all their planes in a few days.
But apart from them and occasion forward-deploying Beaufighters, the main allied air support (or lack thereof) came from Africa.
Mainly P-38s and night bombers, with a few Baltimores (the only plane of the campaign not there).
The german level bombers came from Greece or Crete while Stukas and Fighters(? not even sure there were many 109s involved) came from Rhodes.
Hs 293 armed Do 217s also made an appearance. :)
Basically this was the last successful offensive bomber campagin the Luftwaffe ever had and the last time outnumbered Spitfires scrambled to intercept bombers.

Thank you, Agracier, for bringing us this map.
You may have already visited the link below, but I send it on the off chance that you haven't.  A few photos, and a write up that seems a little hard on Churchill, with regard to the Dodacanese campaign.
Thank you again.

The whole thing was a shambles from the beginning to the end, with the main effort in Italy, they basically had to improvise a major operation.

The whole thing should have been called off when the italians failed to take over Rhodos which was prevented by a ragtag force grandiosely called "Sturm Division Rhodos" which basically comprised of service and fortress troops allready there and various penal units (!) that overwhelmed four times as many italians.
Without Rhodes and its airfields the campaign was doomed from the start.
The only other air field was on Kos, where the Spitfires were based.
This base was bombed around the clock and taken by Brandenburgers and 22nd ID from Crete, leaving Leros without air support, except long range air assets from Egypt and Cyprus.
While Jagdgeschwader 27 was in the theater to support the operation, I am not sure much fighter combat did take place at all, the Spitfires on Kos seem to have simply been bombed out of existence.

Right now it is still on hold ... I've caught the template virus looks like and I will have to get my mapmaking back up t speed ... maybe in a while it will be going OK with map making again ... the problem with maps though is mainly in populating ... not my area of expertise, or rather something that reauires a bit too much patience on my part ...

I may rather take up a smaller map and see how that goes ...

Here is a preview of a map that is coming along surprisingly well. It is of the Aegean Sea and the Turkish coast, mainly showing the Dodecanese Islands. These islands, mostly former Ottoman Turk possessions, were awarded to Italy after the Great War and remained Italian until after WWII.

Just saw this and i would like to correct agracier that the Islands were Hellenic for thousand of years before they were captured by the Ottoman invaders from Asia.

The Turks burned the island of Kasos to the ground, killing almost all of its population in 1824. You don't do that with something that is yours...Even the name "Dodecanese" means literally "twelve islands".

History is often no more than a summation of injustices and atrocities ...

Agracier, please, any chance for a pre-release release so who among us is willing to give a try to the map can "play" with it?
Some seaplane take-off and landing points near the Turkish coast and the same for the Greek islands would be welcome , indeed...
For villages and towns I would like to give it a try myself, if possible...

You bet you can give it a try ... I can't say anymore how the terrain looks, probably a bit outdated but here it is anyway. Do whatever you wish with the map, retexture if you wish ...

Very good map, Thank you, Agracier!

@Col King
 Being a WIP some mistake arrive... open the load.ini of map and under section [APPENDIX] replace the line:
Tree0 = Trees\Ifni_DesertTree.tga
with this:
Tree0 = Trees\AlteredBush9a.tga

Ifni_DesertTree.tga is only a texture forgotten from the download folder

I also copied "map_t.tga" and renamed the copy "ed_map_t.tga" .  May be not really necessary but now the map works.
(with entry   ag_Dodecanese ag_Dodecanese/load.ini   )

Sorry about the trees ... I usually try to keep all texture files in one and the same directory to avoid mistakes like this. But I think this map is from before I started doing that. You can always download the Ifni desert trees and put them in your trees folder ...

Then again, it's fun trying out different tree types and seeing how they look on a specific map.
