Afternoon to all on SAS,

Today I'm proud to present my completed Revell Spitfire Mk.IIa in 1/72 scale. As a final conclusion this kit was very enjoyable and fun to build, I have to admit though for 1962 this mold has aged nicely with a bit of tweaking here and there with not many dramas. One thing I will state is that the kit is VERY fragile and you have to handle her like a porcelain vase when finished, especially with the undercarriage as that's thin like paper but conforms to gluing well. I didn't liquid poly the landing gear as I feared it could have melted it into the wrong areas or damaged the legs so I used superglue which worked well. 8)

Also as a bonus here is the Revell Spitfire next to a kit from the same period which is the Airfix Bf-109E-4, this model I built in 2017 and has aged very well. :)

Splendid result with that oldie. Looks nice next to the Messer.  8) ;D

I was seriously tempted by some old Revell kits while I was foraging in my local model shop today...maybe next week.

Depends on which kit you get, with classic models it's like playing poker.. either you get lucky or you get stiff armed with a bad one...

After researching old models it's why I buy kits I know I can make Andy, saying that I was guilty of buying the diabolical Airfix Spitfire Mk.IX and you saw how that turned out... a disaster.

Considering this model was 4 years younger than the Airfix Spit, it was FAR superior in terms of quality and build as well as usable decals. 8)

Still, a huge thanks for the compliment Andy... means a lot mate. :)

Evening all on SAS,

Here I present my next project. It's a VERY old kit but one I've had my eyes on for a long time and it's the 1960's classic FROG Bf-110G-4 in 1/72, not many reviews of this model exist so I'm just going by historical model making with FROG back in the early 2010's when I constructed their Me-410A-2 with the BK-5 Cannon. The kit went together brilliantly but the only thing that let it down were the decals which shattered when I looked at them! :-X

The kit comes with 2 paintschemes and back in this day political correctness crap didn't exist so she comes with FULL markings. I had to source some second hand ones after the ones in the kit looked pretty worn down and yellowed.

So... here she is...

Gaston,

You can usually find them on eBay and for reasonable prices, I bought this kit earlier last week for £20 and it's in perfect condition. Revell released this tool in the 1980's after Frog went bust... as far as I'm aware this is one of 3 toolings out there. Italieri and Eduard made much superior toolings to this but the Frog kit was the first.. but they command higher prices due to better quality.

Morning all on SAS,

In continuation of my introduction from the 1968 kit by Frog the interior and propellers are painted. This aircraft will be made as a Bf-110G-4 of NJG.4. Also I'd like to point out the pilots... they are very strange, they look like they come from the mysterious land of ''Abazagabadaba''.... Wolfgang-Schnaufer looks native... :))

Andy... :))

Right onto a historical matter. The Bf-110G-4 of NJG.4 DID exist... however FROG misinterpreted the paintscheme naming it after Wolfgang Schnaufer who was the highest scoring nightfighter pilot with 121 kills.

The aircraft itself was a listed Luftwaffe aircraft and met her demise by forced landing in 1944 but the markings are incorrect on the kit and 9G+AA was NOT one of Wolfgang Schnaufer's mounts.... although it's a nice representation of this particular nightfighter.
