OS2U of BB North Carolina
« on: February 03, 2016, 02:24:40 AM »

hi folks :D
following a request of Captain Dawson, here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,50066.msg546417.html#msg546417
i was keen to tackle this one - after a bumpy start, with issues rising from two differing 3d models. i finally managed to get it together, and am quite pleased with the result so far, and figured it's decent enough for a release.

the set consists of 3 skins (the same skin with some subtle differences, one has less saturation (Desat in skin title) and one has a little extra weathering (W in title)
the pack comes in two options, one pack is in HD 24-bit BMP's, the other in the traditional 8-bit BMP format.
naturally, to make use of the HD skins, you need to be using the HD TrueColor mod.

enjoy!  8)

Malone,

Thank you again so much for making this skin for the USS North Carolina exhibit! I'm sending the real pilot, Almon P. Oliver, (I think he's 92) a picture of it. He will be so excited!

Respectfully,    (I don't know how to make skins ;D)

Lol, I could swear you copied the side shot I gave you onto the skin! I don't know how you do it!  ;D

you're not far off there, lol
i do indeed start off many of my skins by using bits of actual pics pasted on, but eventually i need to do so much editing, stretching and shifting that not much remains as it started. Photoshop is a good friend of mine ;)
so yes, the reason you think it looks like the pic is because it is, kinda
to me, how i get the end result doesn't matter that much, as long as i'm happy with the result :D

Absolutely fantastic Eugene.  Thank you.  This clearly illustrates how a great skin completes a mod properly.  This is brilliant.   8)

thanks for the comments, guys :D
@ Simon, if you like the idea, i can make a new default for it using this skin as a base, just removing the individual pilot markings and stuff, to use as a new default in a future CUP update?

Even if I prefer heavy weathered skins for myself, I have to say it could be a wonderful default one. Very good job !
