I made a start up map of the Caucasus Region for some one. I haven't seen any progress on it for a long time. I even made the sea navigable.
I recall I made it 100 kilos  1 pixel

You can certainly post a link, but I think it was the mountainous terrain itself that just didn't look right. The mountains always seemed to look like an unending series of scoops of ice cream or whipped cream or something else unrealistic ... I tried altering the height map subtly but that didn't work either ...

But who knows ...

Well, if anyone would to take on populating the map with objects for villages, towns, farms, airbases and so on ... please please do so ...

I'll probably have to do a retexturing of this map since the textures were done in 512 and are not up to par with the latest types of maps, but populating can be done independently of whatever textures are used ...

So if you'd like to populate the map ...

Hi Kirby,  You made that map for me and I'm still working on it.  I had some computer problems over the winter which delayed my work.  I started working on it again recently so I hope to have the WIP ready to download this summer.

I've added a few airfields already and adding more now.  Have done some populating of cities but might change some of that.  If anyone would like to populate cities on my WIP then please let me know... autopop would work good with it. 
A few harbors also need to be done.

Wow - they all look like great maps

I hope that some folks would also be able to finish populating some maps we already have - Asheshouse's Battle of France map would be a prime candidate.

I may get back to this some time. I hit some problems with Part 2 because the density of building population that I had used for Part 1 simply did not work in areas like Rotterdam. The map would load ok but the fps rate was too low for practical use. Choice was to reduce the building density or greatly reduce the built up area, or both.

The map has been re-used (cropped east west and extended south) for the Canvas Knights Western Front map. I got involved with EasyRider in adapting the map for this use and doing the basic extension work.

Certainly would be nice to get the original Battle of France version completed, or at least moved forward a bit. I dont have time to do much on it at the moment but I can help if anyone wants to give it a go.

Cape Gloucester is almost finished since it doesn't really have a lot of objects ... but I don't think I'll have it done before i leave next week. I'll be away from a computer and internet for about a month ... so it won't get done then. Maybe afterwards in July or August? All it still needs is a number of native villages and sundry settlements ...

The Bahamas is indeed a totally different area and is a request map by the Virtual Czech Squadron who will do the populating. So on this one I can't give any predictions on finishing date. It is however finished with texturing and all the other tasks, except for placing airfields and objects ...

Hard to say, as it's now Kapteeni who will be doing the populating ... that part is (happy happy, joy joy) out of my hands for now ... ha ha.

If he starts work on it, then I'd say it will still be autumn or so at best before it's done.

I just got a copy of Israeli Airforce History and all the Israeli airfields are ther, but i need now info about Jordanian, Syrian and Egypt airfields. Help wanted. Links, recommended books, what ever.
