Note that it does not have any effect that I placed all the objects on water. Objects from my *.mis file can be transferred anywhere in a future map. (And doubled, troubled...etc.)
That´s the way to go ... anyone can make templates like these, either in the map maker and saved as actors.static files, or if you don´t have the map maker, then you can make these in .mis file format, as a mission without any planes.
Map maker is a bit easier as objects are grouped together by author. In a .mis file you have to know the object number you wish to choose ... and the list can be long ..
But either way works fine and once you get the hang of it, it gets easier.
Also remember that you can turn the landscape off and work on a ´waterless´ map for instance, which makes it easier to place objects.
With templates of towns, villages, farms, hamlets, airfields, harbors, supply dumps, trenches etc etc saved on standard maps like this, it should make populating maps much easier. Then map makers or whoever can copy and paste and rotate or make changes to these templates and end up with a very varied map, even though working from the same templates ...
