hi all
i've found several thread on this subject on the net, but none of them offer any solution that i can see.
i have a Logitech 5.1 system that i've been happily using for many years, but ever since i went over to Win 7 64-bit, i am unable to get any sound out of any of the other speakers - only from the front left/right speakers. try what i might.
in the sound configure/test screen, when i test, it indicates that sound is coming through each individual speaker, but i only hear sound through the two.
it's like this in the test, but in normal use at least the sub works, but no matter what, i can't get any sound outputting from the two satellites.
i'm actually amazed that there are so many people on the net with this exact same problem (not specifically Logitech, but 5.1 in general), and even though some of the threads i've read at several sites, such as tomshardware.com, where the threads are marked [solved], but try as i might, i don't see where the solution is offered that solved it.
just putting this out here on the off-chance someone might have an idea.
if you need any more info on my system specs, just ask and i'll provide... ;)

How do you have it hooked up? I have the logitech Z-5500 5.1 setup. I have that hooked up to my pc through an optical connection. I have had the same problem in the past and learned it was my settings all messed up . Have you tried setting your sound card to stereo and your Logitech speakers set to 5.1 surround?

toranadaman, thanks - funny you mention the Z5500 set, as that is the setup i have on my second pc. that as well, when i first set itup, had sound over all the speakers, full 5.1, but when i checked the other day, it ow has exactly the same issue as the other Logitech set i use (the smaller set is the X-530, i think)  - the 5500's are an awesome set! ;)
both sets are now suffering from the same problem, even though i've not changed any settings whatsoever.
i guess it's possible that something changed - indeed, i suspect that some Windows update went and screwed it all up at some unknown point.
i don't have a dedicated soundcard, only the onboard - Realtek, iirc, but certainly when i first installed the speakers, i had full 5.1.
if it turns out i need a dedicated 5.1 soundcard, fine - although on the other pc that uses the smaller X-530 speakers, that could be a problem, as i don't have an available pci slot for it (well, i have a spare slot, but it'll be sitting so close to my GPU that i don't think that's a good idea to even try)
how do i have it set up?
well, simply the three jacks plugged into the back of the machine - black, green and orange/pink.
as i say, from when i first installed the speakers, and they were working in full 5.1 at that point, i have not made any changes to the setup whatsoever.
