Italian AF around Monte Cassino in 1939 ?
« on: February 20, 2016, 11:18:41 AM »

WIP Yugoslavia map covers also the area around Monte Cassino.
There is Monte Cassino map in DBW 1.71, which show several AFs in that region:

My question is, were all those AFs built up to  1939, when my map is supposedly dated ?
Perhaps anybody knows the answer or  name of the author of the map ?

Zipzapp was the creator of the Monte Cassino map.
He also made the huge Alpen maps long time ago.

Thanks for links.
I went through the history on the above link and found that none of AF shown on zip_Monte_Cassino map (very impressive) was built before 1943, so Yugoslavia map 1939 cannot contain any of them.

Map of AF under the hands of Regia Aeronautica till july 1943.

https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Struttura_della_Regia_Aeronautica#/media/File:Regia_Aeronautica_1943_map.svg

All my respect to map makers, but I will not watch to Montecassino map & Gothic line. If you need about Italy, just write to me.  ;)

Open the .svg file with Exlorper, the map will be bigger, copy the part that you need. Full "O" are operative AF (some in LW hands). "O" under construction. Full Black "square" are hydrobases.

When you find the name of the AF for your map, notify me. Hope to find all pictures/maps of them.

ww2.dk has added a Luftwaffe airfield section which covers the ETO including Italy, Yugoslavia and Albania. Might be useful to FMB baristas.

Yes that is it. The Italian section was added in September 2015 so maybe some missed it, but not you!
