« on: February 23, 2016, 07:55:39 AM »

as the title, when i try to run #JTW for the first time, i get a 70% ctd, with the error log as follows:

missing M59 APC...
what could the issue be, and/or recommended solutions?

when trying to run TGA module for first time, also a 70% ctd, with error log as follows:

lol, i don't actually know why i'm posting this, when the only possible advice must be a reinstall....

well, if more info is required, let me add this.
just went ahead and reinstalled JTW, testing between each new part. JTW was still loading properly up to and including Part 8.
only after adding part 9 and 9B does the 70% ctd kick in.

edit: i can even narrow it down to the very last part, 9B.
which, after re-downloading and reinstalling, still gives me the same ctd...
reading this little excerpt from the 9B readme tells me that there is an issue here with the Vietnam stationary vehicles, but the age-old question of 'why me' comes to mind, lol
Code: [Select]
The new JTW37.SFS and VCL14/15.SFS SFS_MAPS Place-holders will ensure that the new Vietnam era vehicles do not over-ride existing WWII vehicle slots and avoid interfering with #WAW!i mean, if there was a general problem, i certainly won't be the only person with this problem, and yet i don't see anyone else crying about it....

as for the #TGA module, almost exactly the same scenario.
up to and including Part 6, it loads up into the game.
the moment i add Part 6B, 70% ctd

it's too much of a coincidence that the situation is so similar with these two modules.
what am i missing here?

update - after re-downloading part 6B of #TGA module, it finally decided to play ball, and now loads up successfully.  :)

the same cannot be said for JTW part 9B - after re-downloading it 4 times altogether, i still get the exact same 70% ctd.
there must be something wrong with the download, surely?
i mean, a corrupted download i can understand, but when you get the exact same vehicle error each and every time, there has to be more to it than a faulty download - the file itself must have a problem.
here is the latest error log, exactly the same as the initial one:

Code: [Select]
Main begin: PlMisStatic: class 'vehicles.stationary.M59Stationary$M59_APC' not found
[4:55:43 PM] java.lang.RuntimeException: PlMisStatic: class 'vehicles.stationary.M59Stationary$M59_APC' not found

[4:55:43 PM] at com.maddox.il2.builder.Builder.<init>(Builder.java:2363)
[4:55:43 PM] at com.maddox.il2.gui.GUIBuilder.<init>(GUIBuilder.java:90)
[4:55:43 PM] at com.maddox.il2.gui.GUI.create(GUI.java:166)
[4:55:43 PM] at com.maddox.il2.game.Main3D.beginApp(Main3D.java:1885)
[4:55:43 PM] at com.maddox.il2.game.Main3D.beginApp(Main3D.java:1579)
[4:55:43 PM] at com.maddox.il2.game.MainWin3D.beginApp(MainWin3D.java:212)
[4:55:43 PM] at com.maddox.il2.game.Main.exec(Main.java:432)
[4:55:43 PM] at com.maddox.il2.game.GameWin3D.main(GameWin3D.java:235)
[Feb 23, 2016 4:55:43 PM] -------------- END log session -------------

someone needs to look at that upload, i honestly will never believe that i downloaded something 4 times, and that each time it just happens to have the exact same 'corruption'. this fault absolutely has to lie with that part 9B itself.

Hi Malone. I just checked my #JTW install up to part 9b and its "chiefs" .ini and your missing M59_APC is in there. Not attempting to teach granny to suck eggs but did you delete your #JTW folder after pt8 and put in part9 as a restore point? Part 9b is a safe overwrite to part9 and shouldn't cause any problems.

I do not have #TGA installed. Other than that, I'm afraid I'm as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Best Regards,

well, i didn't delete the previous one, but what i did do was to rename it as follows: -#JTW_Pt9
so that part 9 one i can always roll back to.
i have done similar renaming of the other restore point for all modules, so as to be able to see at a glance which restore point is which.
on top of all that, i place all these restore points in a new folder, named "-DISABLED RESTORES"
can't get much safer than that, surely?
anyhoo, as i've said, i have now re-downloaded Part 9B for the 4th time running, and with each and every new attempt at installing it, as i've said, i get the exact same 70% ctd, with the exact same error.
that leaves me up the proverbial creek, no paddle in sight :D

okay, so can someone explain to me how, when part 9 does not include (at least, as far as the chief/stationary/etc ini files are concerned)
any references to those Vietnam vehicles whatsoever - the M59 APC, the M113 and the LVT 5
and then part 9B comes along and ONLY contains info for these vehicles in the provided stationary.ini......no chief file or anything else...
that's doomed to crash, far as i'm concerned.
basically, telling it to add stationary versions of vehicles that don't exist in Part 9 at all.....
these are the entries in part 9B stationary.ini:
M59             vehicles.stationary.M59Stationary$M59_APC         2
M113            vehicles.stationary.M113Stationary$M113_APC       2
LVT5            vehicles.stationary.LVT5Stationary$LVT_5          2
look at the facts:
9B ONLY comes with the stationary.ini (as far as #JTW folder is concerned) which has entries for these vehicles.
no entries exist for these vehicles anywhere else at this point. not in chief.ini, not in technice.ini and not in stationary.
so, replacing the existing stationary ini, or even just adding these entries into the existing ini, MUST result in a 70% ctd.

if i'm wrong, please show me where .....

perhaps
searching stationary.ini , this line
vehicles.stationary.M59Stationary$M59_APC

and edit into here
vehicles.stationary.Stationary$M59_APC

western, well, i can do that, but that's not going to solve the 70% ctd.
as i said, these vehicles, after adding part 9 of the module successfully (as in, it loads correctly) simply do not exist in the install anywhere - not in chief/technics or stationary.
so, no matter what name i give them, if i just add stationary entries for them, that's not sufficient - the game will still crash.
but i'm more than happy to try it anyway.
better than sitting here twiddling my thumbs... :D

let me try to make it easier to follow.
attached below is the ini files that i have AFTER installing the last good working part of JTW - Part 9.
look through them, those Vietnam vehicles do not exist there at all.
at this stage, the Module loads correctly.

then, along comes Part 9B of JTW, which consists ONLY of a stationary.ini file, attached below, which includes entries for these vehicles...
