SBD bombs missing
« on: February 28, 2016, 05:56:35 AM »

Dear Sirs,
there is a discrepancy between the SBD3 weapons.properties and the list of possible weapons for the SBD3 in QMB. Some single missions give problems when using weapons of the weapons.properties. Did I miss something?
Best regards.

...there is a discrepancy...

hi, would you mind being more specific, as to exactly what this discrepancy is?
i mean, if others have the same problem or not, we will never know, unless we know exactly what's wrong with yours...

The 2x250lb and 2x500lb bombs are missing.
(although weapons.properties is OK).

I am sure this comes from "SBD-3 & 5 - Bombs Release Gear" mod here;)

Checked in my MA530, there I see the same problem.
I tried the mod with Radges 412 patch.

Seems there are three solutions:

1 - someone picks up the Mod and tries to adapt the (cod?) files (a coding thing).
2 - live with it and edit the missions
3 - try to eliminate the mod in CUP and have no bombs gear but all bomb loadouts back.

I vote for 2 as it seems the simplest quick fix for now:
open the missions.mis file with any text editor and find and replace
2x250 and/or 2x500 with 1x250 or 3x250 and/or 1x500 or 3x500. Done.  ;)

EDIT: I edited this threads header to have a correct desription.

Dear Gerax,
thank you for your answers.
I solved my problem by doing what you propose on 2.
It appeared in two single missions dated 2008 that I installed in my game. I met problems (pink screen, floating planes) and it was not easy to find the final reason with the log.text between missing ships, missing this, missing that and finally too many or too less bombs.
Dear Malone,
sorry for beeing unspecific, I  use CUP up to 20, I thought that it was easy to compare weapons.properties  and the QMB weapons list fo the SBD3 and see the difference at a glance.
Best regards to both of you.

I am sure this comes from "SBD-3 & 5 - Bombs Release Gear" mod
With BRG you have 1 or 3 bombs... ;)

Dear all,
i meet another problem with weapons.properties. In a old single mission an A20G bomber uses one torpedo Mk13 which is listed in weapons.properties, I got a screen with a gunner sitting in the air. On the log text, I found "weapon torpedo Mk13 not registered for A20G". So I returned in QMB and found a lot of various torpedoes but not the Mk13.So I tried to install a pair of torpedoes listed in QMB. The problem is that I don't know exactly how their names must be written. So another hanging gunner. I could go on with trial and error but it is a little boring.
I make use of the two torp JSGME .Did I miss something?
Best regards.

Your problem looks NOT related to weapons.properties .
It needs to be made more clearly , not confusing.

weapons.properties file is only an alias of texts showing.
It makes Java coders easy to write loadouts texts and players easy to recognize what ordnance the loadout has.
Nothing true loadout entity.
Loadout entity is written in each aircrafts' classfile Java code compiled -- not plain text.

Campaign missions needs weapons.properties entry to use the aircraft in it, but you say about Single missions / QMB. Single missions or QMB doesn't need weapons.properties entries.

Dear Western0221,
let me explain:
I found a single mission dated 2008.
I installed this mission in the folder A20G.
In the mis folder the weapons for the A20G is 1xmk13.
In the weapons.properties list there is a mk13
I launched the mission, got a failure;
On the log.text was written "weapon torpedo mk13 not registered in air.A20g"
I went in QMB
I chose a set of torpedoes
I wrote their name in mis folder in place of the mk13
I launched the mission
I got a failure
I now have to change the spelling of the "2xtorpedo_45_36AN" into "2xtorp-45-36AN" or 2xtorpedoes -45_36an" or 2xtorp_45_36AN or....
I am a amateur so for me java is just a dance or an island.
Any help is welcome.
Best regards

Hi ! You can create a mission in FMB with this plane and loadouts to get the needed spelling...

I found a single mission dated 2008.
I installed this mission in the folder A20G.
In the mis folder the weapons for the A20G is 1xmk13.
In the weapons.properties list there is a mk13
I launched the mission, got a failure;
If you want to use the single Mk13 torpedo loadout, you still can install the A-20G-1 from here : https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,5879.0.html
Using missions from 2008 will probably lead to some unavoidable changes  ;)

The A-20G problem here is similar to the problem I described and reported here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,46400.msg550032.html#msg550032

It comes with DreamKs torpedo and Mines mod wich is new in WAW.
Edit the mission(s) until DreamK finds a way to bring the stock loadouts back.
Lets hope the best.  ;)

Dear all,
by spelling carefully the name  of the torpedo i.e.2xTorp_45_36AN, I could launch my mission without failure but there was no torpedo hanging on the aircraft.
I tried in QMB and I could get aircraft and torpedoes. I opened the mission on FMB: aircraft but no torpedo.
I installed the A20-G1 with its weapons, it includes a Mk13. I replaced in the mission the A20-G by A20-G1, launched the mission but the torpedo is so difficult that I got two bad entries. So I renounced.
Dreamk did a fantastic job. Getting information on the launching of the torpedo allows to improve one's technique. But some problems do exist.
Looking for old missions or campaigns is like rummaging in an older jewell case, you can find a ring covered with dust and after cleaning find a brilliant pearl.
Thank you and best regards.
