PTO Nightfighters - Nightfighting campaigns for WAW20

Hello, guys !  :)

Since we have the  Hiryu going full speed in CUP, I have decided to sail at night !  :D

After my ETO nightfighters campaign pack, I was willing to do the same for PTO, but with a big miss for USN nightfighters, due to the fact that we hadn't any night carrier...and my wish has been fulfilled !

I can now confirm that taking-off at night from carrier is hair-rising !  :P

I thanks a lot SAS malone,Gastraz and Griffon_301 for their help digging back the F4U2 ! With Csocso F6F5n, they make a fine addition to the nightfighting department ! However, as these planes are not (but soon, I hope) in CUP list, I prefered to make a separate folder which is listed as “Mod” (Original, no?  :-X)...If you don't want to add them, you can however use the Corsair Mk1 or the F6F5 in the same way.

 So, you will find campaigns for USMC (Corsair F4U2 and Hellcat), USN ( Corsair and Hellcat), USAAF (Blackwidow and P-38 M). As usual, this campaigns are shorts but I try to make them more immersive by use of C& environment and happy taxiing....As usual,these campaigns are semi-historical ! Missions, places and planes are exact (Roughly) and actions are based on real events.

You will have a GCI to take care of you, a good radar set which could be jammed, plenty of playfull targets to shoot at (Check your prey first !) and an versatile weather ! Everything to make a nightflyer happy !

USMC Night Corsair is over the island of Tarawa
USMC Night Hellcats is the defense of Okinawa

USN Night Corsairs stands during Truk Atoll operations
USN Night Hellcats stands during Marianna's operations

USAAF Black Widow and P38M stands for defense of Okinawa

These campaigns have been designed to be played with  CUP-WAW 20, I don't know if they worked with something else...Try and tell me !
Do not forget to set your options correctly :

No Icons is set to ON (red light is lit, switch thrown to the left side)
No Padlock is ON
Realistic Navigation is ON
No Map Icons is ON
No Player Map Icon is ON

Cool, thank you ! I started a campaign myself after this discussion, but real life's work keeps me away from mission building now  :-|

The USAAF (P-38 and P-61) appear to work fine, but the USMC/USN Hellcat/Corsair don't. I suspect it's a problem with finding the correct objects. I start a USMC hellcat campaign (using the "Mod" version, which is< I think, what I'm supposed to use) and press the start button and nothing happens. The button remains depressed. A look at the first mission shows only one a/c, the OSU2!?

suggest you read the original release post :) there you will find some links for aircraft you will need additionally...the F4U-2N and the F6F-5N which are not included in WAW #20;
thats the reason for the campaigns not working...

Then what's the Mod folders for? My impression from reading the notes (which I read more than once) was that the Mod folder was for current users of WAW20.

Actually, on looking into the files again, it appears that the MOD files require the extra a/c, and the standard ones don't. However, those don't work either. The start button remains depressed ( for the USMC Corsairs) or fails to load (for the USMC Hellcats).

Okay, I understand what happened. Look in the 'campaign.ini' file : there is the list of the missions entries to be used in the campaign, and they were given a wrong name when creating both Night Corsair campaigns (for example '5VMF532N.mis' when the right name is '5VMFN532.mis') so the game won't find them. So, you can change the name of the missions (or the names in the campaign.ini's list but be careful to keep the '.mis' extension or the bug will happen again).

There is another little bug - at least for me : the OS2U starts without bombs. So the best thing if you got the same problem (wrong loadout name) is to open the mission with FMB and to select 2x250 US bombs loadout for the plane, and save the mission. Then the campaign should work fine.

(I have to thank SAS~Poltava for this thread that led me to the solution)

Ah ha! That'll do it! Thanks for the help.

OK, I've done the following to try and debug this thing:

1. Installed the F4U-2 and F6F-5N aircraft into #WAW-20

2. Used the -Mod version of the campaigns (you either have to remove the ' - Mod' or get rid of the spaces).

3. Edited the USMC Hellcat campaign as described above.

Everything works *except* the USN Hellcat campaign. That still hangs on the start button. The individual missions work if you run them as single missions. But I can't see what the problem with the campaign files is.

That's why I gave the link to the other thread about naming ; it could be a wrong name, or a wrong extension, or...wrong naming convention. I never use spaces in my missions names, did not remember why...now I do remember  :D

Remove the spaces in the mission names too (and in the campaign.ini file list), then it should work.
