3ds Max: Which version? Or something else?

Hello guys,

short question: Which Version of 3ds Max ist the best for il-2 Modding? Or should i use a completely different program?

Max 9 for compatibility purpose - any other modder can open your files and it can use the exporting tools.
Or anything newer (2010-..) with the risk that the .max file might not be possible for others to open as easily. (Newer maxes allow to save in older formate - kid of like the problem with .doc and .docx if you remember the old office 2003.)

I dont know why but i can only download the versions from 2014 to 2016. Which one is the best for il-2?

If you want my advice download 2015

This is because you should always try and get the latest version .. but .. Mootools Poly Cruncher (it is payware, not expensive and one of the better poly reduction add-ons - which allows the creation of LODs from your original model's meshes) does not support 2016 yet.

Remember, IL2 allows no more than 3K polygons per mesh and 30k per model..... IIRC  ;)

I´ve downloaded the 2014 version already :-X. I hope the 2014 version is ok too
