FMB Plane drops from sky
« on: March 12, 2016, 04:44:10 PM »

Hi there!

Not sure what I may be doing wrong here. A little background.............I have tried to build a simple Takeoff and Landing mission. Nothing complex, just need to practice flying. The airfield is Haliewa HI. Aircraft F4u. I set the start on the field as takeoff with 5 way points landing at Wheeler field. When I start the mission the plane just drops out of the sky from a few meters up and crashes. I did make another mission that starts from the air.no problem. Any ideas? Your help is most appreciated.

... there's no TAKEOFF  waypoint in the .mis you posted ...  o_O

Besides (I don't use HSFX) what are those " _" after NORMFLY and LANDING...?

Here:

NORMFLY_4 246174.90 59082.42 500.00 250.00 &0

and here:

LANDING_104 264249.80 31305.85 0 0 &0

Since I could not get the aircraft to take off from field, I had to edit (Normfly) and start at altitude. The landing is at Wheeler field. No problem there. The problem is taking off from a field?

...I was not talking about coordinates but this sign, "_", here highlighted in red by me:

NORMFLY_4 246174.90 59082.42 500.00 250.00 &0

Otherwise these are the coordinates of the plane position on the map:

246174.90 59082.42  <=== I just edited here and deleted the first figure, "4"

This is altitude in meters:

500.00

This is speed in km/h:

250.00

try to delete the "_" sign with a text editor and refly the mission ...  ;)

... also delete the "4" after the "_" ...  ;)

Like that:

[UN_NN01_Way]
  NORMFLY 246174.90 59082.42 500.00 250.00 &0

From 4.11m , stock game has added new waypoint properties in taking-off and landing.... formation taking-off and how traffic pattern draw in landing (left turn / right turn / straight in). From 4.12m , also added taxi-to-takeoff.
.mis file entry's underbar + numbers postfix like TAKEOFF_003 / LANDING_104 mean those new properties.
HSFX7.0.3 is based on 4.12.2m game, those postfix are generated by FMB.

And so... NORMAL waypoints don't have such postfix and to be erased in hand editing from taking-off / landing waypoints in texts , as Mick says.

western

Now that's clear. Thank you!

Stumbled across another issue while trying to build another simple mission. I am not sure if deleting (following previous suggestion of other member) the _4 in previous mission affected the aircraft (F4u-1D).

While creating a new mission, saving, selecting the same aircraft etc....when I clicked on the map for start point.....nothing happened!? No start point and obviously no additional waypoints could be added. !?!?!?!
