Size of skins
« on: March 20, 2016, 05:17:38 AM »

Hi, not really  skin request, more a call for help. Trying to alter 2048 skins to 1024 size, I got the starnge thing that one of four skins is nicely 1024x1024, 1.0Mb, while three others are 883, 839 and 753kB, and does not show up in game. I've changed RGB clour in Indexed colour, both 8Bits/Channel and size from 2408 to 1024. What must be done to correct this?

I don't know what graphic editor tool you use....

Some of them have "Compress" function even the data format is 'BMP' , often called "RLE compress" or some other name.
Maybe the file save dialog from "Save as..." menu has a checkbox enabling that compress function (and checked as default). You have to open the dialog, expand the window to push '+' button (if needed) and uncheck the box not  to use compress function.

IL-2 1946 doesn't support compressed BMP datafiles.

Hi Western, I use Photoshop 6. You are right; somewhere in thesaving process I could select 32, 24 16, 8, 4 bits. When activating 8 bits the size became 1Mb and all skins show.
Thanks for the assistance.
