i remember seeing those big kits on the upper shelves when i was a kid, and at the time they were like the holy grail of models, lol
i've just entered an online bidding war for the Bf109/E-3 from this series, to try and bring to life one more childhood dream. hopefully i don't end up bidding against Cirx for it, as it's a local site :D

Hi all,
I have well over 100 completed airfix and other makes of ww2 AIRCRAFT 1/72 scale
including the Giant Me323 glider and engine model..... All in the loft
When I go up to the big sky ,the wife willl no doubt put them all in the SKIP.
Still it gave me many hours of enjoyment finding new models and building them.
Cheers edc1 (stan)
ps :- some of them are now 40 years old!

Hello edc1,

maybe you would like to show us pictures of some of your models. It would make me happy.

Best regards, Gerhard  :)

Beautiful collection, CirX! I remember those kits well... In fact, that Dauntless SBD-5 was my first 1/32 model. How time flies!

Next time I manage to get up into the loft,(age is a terrible thing when climbing ladders)
I'll take some photos and post them,
BACKGROUND might be a little dark no lights in loft
------ torch light only!-------

Congrats Malone! Just, please dont build it lol! :D They are nice collectable boxes, and a time trip inside the box, but there are newer, infinitely better 1/32 BF109E series kits available today. Please keep that one safe and sound. If you want to build a 1/32 BF 109E, let me know, I'll send you a more modern kit.

you're quite right, i want to keep it as a collectable, for sure.
i do, however, still need a German plane in this scale for my planned diorama.
it must be a plane used in North Africa, so if you come across one let me know - i'm thinking either a 109, a Storch or maybe even a 110 :D

ps: in the interim, i also acquired the Dauntless SBD in this range for an absolute steal! sweet!  8)

Cool stuff! The dauntless is the rarest of them.

Regarding the 1:32 diorama: The Storch has only one option, which is the Hasegawa Model. It is a nice model though. The 110, there are newer modls out than the old revell. Check Dragon/Wing TEch. very good models, but pricey. For the 109, there are a range from Hasegawa to choose from, many reboxed by revell. Aslo so affordable Trumpeters. For the E series though, there are Eduard and Wing Tech, which are mor eexp[ensive, and also Trumpeters, which are more affordable, while still being awesome kits.

So you are going to have to first decide on the exact model of plane you want to do, then decide if the diorama will have open engine and such stuff in, and then choose the kit accordingly. Most of the new 109E kits are with posable engines. While the 109 F and later series I think only the Trumpeters. I also seem to remember the hasegawa storch is engine posable.

thanks for the info, will help me while searching for the best candidate.
i need to decide more on the diorama specifics, fortunately no rush for this. priority project for me is finishing my dad's Ton class minesweeper, a la SAS Walvisbaai. http://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/from-minesweeper-to-superyacht-the-story-of-mojo/
also, in my recent online travels, i came across this epic kit, for a pricey(yet reasonable) R800 if i pay cash.
just a bit beyond my stretched finances, right now, sadly... :(

In that same series and 1/32 scale of the Uhu, Revell made a new Ju88....that would be an EPIC dio!
